speaking of physics, brian greene's "elegant universe" is probably one of the most entertaining, informative show there is. that's being said, it's definitely worth checking out.

I haven't read the book, I watched the DVD version of it though and thought it was all pretty awesome.

Empire - Orson Scott Card (Same guy as Enders Game)

This book is amazing. It really shows Card's ability to tell a well researched story. One of his favorite books of mine was Pastwatch:The Redemption of Christopher Columbus. It was a book about an organization that watches the past to try and figure out where the human race started to go bad and start destroying the world. They found out it was at the point Columbus discovers the new world. The book starts off really slow because it has to first paint it's epic picture but then speeds into what they plan to do to change history. Really makes you look back at history and think about how convenient it all was. For extra mind-fuck points read it while taking a history course.

Anyway, about Empire, this book takes place in the near future and describes how America could be drawn into a second civil war and what kind of battles we'd face. It's extremely well written and the scariest part is that it's not all that far fetched.

I just finished reading Anne Rice's (A. N. Roquelaure) Sleeping Beauty trilogy. I absolutely loved them.

I am also going to re-read the Harry Potter series in impatient anticipation of the 7th book.

Another good read is the Anita Blake series by Laurrel K Hamilton.

I am looking for good books including Sex (homosexual/heterosexual), Vampires, Were's, Blood, Guts, Gore, or all of the above. Please, if anyone has any idea, let me know. Thanks!

I recently picked up Power to Save the World: The Truth About Nuclear Energy by Gwyneth Cravens. It's been a great read so far, dispels many of the common nuclear energy myths and it told in more of a story format. It's not dry like a purely technical document, but still gives a solid understanding of the fundamentals of nuclear power for even a non-technical person.

Well this has been an interesting couple of months. I finished up books 2,3,4 of A Song of Ice and Fire(A Storm of Swords was just fucking EPIC), books 1-9 of the Dresden Files(fun read ) and The Lies of Locke Lamora(Scott Lynch, you're my hero). Going to start on the Codex Alera series(while Small Favor takes its sweet ass time to come out) and hopefully start the Wheel of Time series once I acquire the 7th book. Should be a fun few months

Recently finished Red Seas under Red Skies (Book two from Scott Lynch) and am Currently reading The Darkness that comes before by Scott Bakker. Hoping to finish that Trilogy and move onto The Gap Series by Stephen Donaldson as well as The First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie and A Dance with Dragons if Martin ever finsihes it.

Might also be dangling into the noir crime fiction genre and readin a couple of James Ellroy's books.

......Small Favor IS out. Alera's pretty good too. Butcher's one of my favorite authors.

Reading the Dresden Files led me to wonder who would win in a caged deathmatch; Harry Potter with Voldy's powers in him or a Lash posessed Harry Dresden... obviously Dresden would win.

The Curious Incident with the Dog in the Night Time is a pretty good book. It's super easy to read (you'll be done in a day or two, though about 280~ pages). It really brings you into the mind of the main character, and somewhat helps you feel what a person of that stature would feel (I don't want to reveal much about this book).

But I was referred to this series last summer and I trudged through the first book which was a little slow, but once I hit the second book I couldn't stop reading. Epic story. Book 8 comes out this summer. Expected to be a 10 book series. So this could fill your whole summer reading list.

It's an OK series, definately wouldn't put it ahead of ASOIAF though. It just reads too much like a D&D campaign or something, which is a con for me, but could very well be a pro for other people.
