    Gardening -> wilted plants time?

    I've previously grown grain/vegetable seeds I farmed leveling lowbie jobs on my mule. Which has 10 earthen pots and enough tables to get overwhelming earth energy and Moghancement: Gardening (I'm not sure if this part matters). If I didn't check them every 24 hours I'd log in to see a bunch of dead, wilted plants the next time I did.

    Due to certain recent events *cough* DM earring quest *cough* I bought and planted a few tree saplings and cactus stems. I went to the beach on Friday night and didn't check my plants, which I expected to be dead, on Tuesday night. Yet, none were.

    Which brings me to my question: Does the seed planted determine the time for a plant to wilt and die? Or does the Moghancement sometimes add a day or two to it? Or something else I'm not aware of?

    Thanks!

    Cactus stems and tree saplings take longer to grow than regular seeds, so yes, you can leave them alone longer than the others and they will not die. I still think you should check them once a day, every 2 days max.

    You don't need to check plants between feedings, they only die if you don't feed/check during their feeding cycles. Saplings and Cactus take about a week between feedings, and there's no need to check them during that time.

    Some of the other seeds though grow a lot faster though, and leaving them will give you problems. They still only need attention (check/feed) during their feeding cycle though.

    Source? I'm pretty certain that is not the case and they need checking at least every 48 hours. Ores can take a month and you're saying only need to check 'em twice?

    Well, a 24hr gap is definitely wrong because I used to do the cutting -> sapling thing ages ago and I was able to leave them along over a weekend to go camping and they were fine (with mog: gardening of course). I haven't gardened in ages but I know cuttings aren't so fickle as to require a check every 24 hours, and afaik gardening mechanics haven't changed beyond the yield percentages for certain seeds.

    Source? 2 years of growing Ores without ever checking most of them. I only log into my mules when it's feeding time on my Main Character. Log in twice feed them and log in again to harvest. They never die.

    You can argue that checking them gives you better yields or better results, but the only way plants die is if you don't either check or feed them during their feeding cycle (which varies between seeds).
