The babies make a Bee-Line for whomever was the one who popped it...which is probley one of your BLMS. Have a tank pop it.
We found the easiest way of doing this for us was to use NIN/DRK tanks on Justice and have all BLM in alliance spamming nukes on him, while a party of melee with a SMN to Stoneskin them kill babies. The babies will make a bee-line for the mages upon spawn, that's just how it works. But they do not hit hard, so if your alliance mages are keeping stoneskin up and keeping each other cured, its not a problem. Its not likely your tanks will need much curing on Justice, anyway, and the melee + stoneskin will make short work of the babies so long as the fight does not go long.
We've also done it with melee on Justice and 4 BLM + RDM + BRD on babies, but the other way was preferable to us because 4-5 BLM is what we top out at and magic damage is much more reliable than melee on Justice himself.
I've also seen two or three BLU and a BRD make short work of the babies.
Babies should be dying within seconds if you have even 3 BLM, should be almost instantly if you have 4-5. If they know how to use blink and stoneskin there's no way they should be getting killed in 3-4 seconds. But if you're desperate, put a PLD in the outside party with them, and have him flash babies when they pop, will buy you the 3-4 seconds.
We melee burn the babies. Have an outside party setup like a 4 melee burn party. BRD RDM melee x4. Just voke the babies the instant they come out and they shouldn't really hit your mages.Originally Posted by Alastaire
I had this issue with joj recently, the babies hit pretty hard, and would just go for mages. Also, I don't know about you, but there's almost no time to blink stoneskin between pops if you kill 1 by 1. Ultimately I wanted to try Aurik's strat (4 blms, have 2 sit while the other 2 use stone/water4 and alternate the sets of 2 blms as they are out of mp) but people were too stubborn to try it, since they won with different strats before (which ended in a lot of dying but we never lost so its ok, I guess). The issue is not so much killing the babies as keeping up MP for them, because blms are going to be wasting damage/mp on them by using IV or ga III (relic's not an option for most of us -.-).
The original strat they had was to let 3 babies pop and kill them all with ga III, but that has its own share of issues because the babies will be taking your blms out while you wait for 3 - we don't have enough to melee burn effectively either =/ Anyway, I think Aurik's strat is the safest and most sound, I've just never been able to try it.
Did this several times with a melee-heavy alliance, we had no problem killing the babies with a standard merit-PT (WAR WAR MNK MNK RDM BRD), while the other ppl focused on killing the jailer. Just have one person call the babies as soon as they pop, and you'll be fine. 1 of the 4 DDs will usually have over 100TP when a baby is spawned, and WS will stick hate on him.
If you really want to manaburn the babies, maybe your BLMs would live longer with /NIN ?
