Heath Ledger = The Joker?

im not sure how old this news is but i just found out about it, apparantly Heath Ledger is supposed to play The Joker in the upcoming film here is a pic of what he looks like in makeup:

Is this supposed to be the make-up for Joker or another crappy "Crow" movie?

^^ never know who they asked to play him, I know alot of voice actors don't like to be filmed while doing the voice for some reason

^the makeup is trying to be realistic to his craziness so the makeup tries to reflect that, but you know how realism in fantasy movies go; like how michael bay didn't want megatron to be the walther p38 anymore because he wanted "realism" and size changes wouldn't be "real", hello its a movie about talking alien robots that change into vehicles what more realism do you need...

I'm more concerned that they're putting Maggie Gyllenhaal in Katie Holmes' role. I have faith that Ledger can do a good job as the Joker, because I really didn't think he'd be a believable gay cowboy either, but he pulled it off. Gyllenhaal, however... I'll reserve judgment because I really haven't seen too much of her work, but I don't have the same confidence. If they're working with a decent script and a decent director, I don't see how it can suck any more than, say, Spider Man 3.

I hate her face, though. Literally.

Really, Batman is too much of a crazy loner to really care about romance. That is one of the things that I have considered to be fail about the Batman movies, the closest thing to a romantic interest that Batman has is Catwoman.

P.S. That Joker makeup is total fail. Mark Hamill is the one and only Joker.

We will disagree about this for eternity. I think that Jack Nicholson phoned in his same performance as the Joker. You think something that is completely illogical and wrong. Watch any of his films, he always plays the same character, much like Christopher Walken. But unlike Christopher Walken, Jack Nicholson has a volume control on his performance so that he can have a little bit of Jack Nicholson (A Few Good Men, As Good as it Gets) or a whole freakin' lotta Jack Nicholson. (Batman, Witches of Eastwick)

Whether or not you like the character that he plays, it certainly was not the Joker. Pick up a few comics that the Joker is in, you will see that Tim Burton's film had nothing to do with the Joker.

I wouldn't even count Caeser Romero as the Joker since it was a radically different character back then. Back then the Joker was a fairly harmless prankster, not the homicidal clown that we know today.

I'm sure Heath was probably forced upon Christopher Nolan by the movie studio, as they like to take an artistically accurate film and turn it into a campy summer popcorn movie.

I will say that Jack Nicholson used to put effort into acting, I don't think that Vince Vaughn ever has.

People would go to see a Batman movie were it filled with actors that no one knew. Take Superman Returns for example, did people go see the movie for the actors? Kevin Spacey was the only famous person in the film (computer Brando doesn't count), yet it grossed $391 million worldwide during its theatrical release. Hell, even Christian Bale isn't a big name actor, before Batman Begins people might remember him as "that crazy guy in that one movie".

It was kindof a B-movie. I don't even think it made it to theatres. Taye Diggs was his co-star if that says anything :D
