TPing in Ninja Chainmail...is it really that good?

I keep getting told that i should tp in my ninja chainmail instead of say Shura body or Hauby, because of the added dual wield bits. Does it really work that great? Is it worth carting my ninja chainmail about all the time?

Any advice would be wonderful, thank you.

Eh, shit is situational, but I'm sure you expected a response like that? What katanas do you use?

It's 5% haste. It's good, but if you can't hit it should be one of the first pieces to be replaced by acc. Have a macro to switch it out if you are fighting stuff with varying evasion, like beastmen.

It depends if you are trying for a speed set-up or not imo. Hauby is great for some mobs, especially High Evasion and some gear sets.

    Shit is situational though.

Re: TPing in Ninja Chainmail...is it really that good?

    Short answer: yes.

Why? For me it totally depends on my ACC. My merits are tied up on MNK and WAR, so no katana merits so I find myself eating sushi always on NIN. If I'm hitting 90-92% ACC, then I switch to AF1 (+1 if fucking Temenos item would drop..) for tp. If not, it's Haub+1 or whichever other ACC body I feel like wearing (Pahluwan, Shura, etc).

So, capped ACC? Go AF1 body. Not capped ACC? Use a body that will help you hit more.

For reference my gear is as follows:

    TP:
    Main: Senj
Sub: Fudo (1 assault away from Perdu.. no time for it right now)
    Ammo: Fire Bomblet
    Head: Turban
    Neck: Peacock Charm
    Ear1: Suppa
    Ear2: Brutal
    Body: Haub+1/AF1/Pln./Shura
    Hands: Dusk/Koga
    Ring1: Sniper +1
    Ring2: Sniper +1
    Back: Cerberus
    Belt: Velocious
    Legs: Haidate
    Feet: Fuma

Of course you also have the option of swapping out pieces of gear to supplement AF1 body. Dusk Gloves -> Noritsune Kote seems like the best switch in terms of stats lost/gain (3% haste 5 attack for 10 acc) versus something like Turban for O. Hat (5% haste for 10 ACC/EVA). But personally I would like to keep my full haste set while using AF1 body.

Another factor would be: Are you getting haste, double march (etc)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with dual wield IV, Suppanomi, haste and 2x march, your delay is capped. Haste would only shorten Shadow timers.

    Weapon: U/U
    head: turban
    Neck: PCC/Chiv Chain
    Body: AF/Shura/Hauby
    Back:Amemet+1
    hands: Dusk/Bandomusha Kote
    belt: swift belt
    legs:Byakko Haidate
    feet: Fuma Sune-ate
    earring: Ethereal/Brutal (Sorry...im a sam...)

Lack of Suppa is bleh if you're aiming for a swing speed setup with U/U, but since you are using the katanas, I'd still go with chainmail.

Im not really going for a 'speed setup' im just trying to do the most damage and whatnot i can for meriting. I realize that without suppa i wont be the best possible but that doesnt mean i shouldnt try to the best of my ability. The reason i asked in the first place is that people in pickups and whatnot comment when i use hauby or shura instead of AF body. I was wondering if it really is so much better.

Re: TPing in Ninja Chainmail...is it really that good?

    I either use Unji/Perdu and AF+1 body or Senju/Perdu and Hauby+1.

I also have all my merits tied up elsewhere, so on Nin I eat sushi. Acc is rarely a problem, so it all comes down to the mobs we are fighting. For tougher targets I tend to go with S/P/Haub and for softer targets I use U/P/AF+1.

    Sincerely,

Re: TPing in Ninja Chainmail...is it really that good?

As a subscriber to the 2BRD party and Meat camp, I say "nearly never". Since you use Unji/Unsho, I'd say "most of the time" when you have 1 BRD, except when you need more Acc. With 2 BRDs, there's pretty much no excuse to ever use sushi for any reason, so you'll probably want the Haub on.

My preference is slower swing speed and higher per-hit damage (I try to use meat as often as possible, even in 1 BRD parties when the camp permits it), but if swinging fast is the name of the game (and it should be with low-damage, high-speed katanas) you want to cater to that.

That said, since you don't have Suppa, you're never going to have the max-potency speed build, so you'd probably be best served by abandoning it entirely. Ditch the U/U for Senj/Unji or Senj/Perdu, add more Acc to your TP set (i.e. PCC always and CC never, 2 Acc rings, Haub, Fire Bomblet) and aim to be able to eat meat most of the time.

It's surprisingly possible despite what many people think. You'll keep over 80% Acc at Nyzul Colibris with kabobs, you'll end up near 90% at Trolls with Hedge Pie, and you'll be fine at Mamool SP South if you're willing to macro in even more Acc in emergencies (Eva-buffed Mamools/Skoffins, Raptor pets, and if your puller grabs the Lurker from the North camp), and the only places you'll still want sushi are for like SP North, Mamook, and Nyzul Mamools (unless you have 2 BRDs ). Mire is a joke of a crappy XP camp ('sup < 20k/hr reasonable max), and outside of ToAU you're fine most places, though probably not Celestial Nexus and maybe Uleguerand (I haven't been there with 1 BRD in over a year, so no idea how Acc is there with meat and no Madrigal).

A lot of NINs love AF body, but most of the time they'd use it, I'd rather be eating meat and sticking with my Haub+1. There are a certain few situations I'd consider it, but they're the exceptions, not the rule in my opinion.

Meh, always parsed better with Hauby+1, usually by a fair margin. I think you guys just like attacking non-stop. Don't forget you lose alot of attack as well as acc switching to af body (15 attack, 15 acc from Hauby+1), and ninja isn't exactly overloaded with either stat.

I use it on Puks and lower evasion Mamools. When the Lurker or Infiltrator gets pulled, I macro swap to a Hauby as my body on the fly. But I agree with most here, AF1 is one of the best pieces to use for TP.

Re: TPing in Ninja Chainmail...is it really that good?

I haven't given it much extensive trial, but I generally don't use my AF1 body unless I'm neutral evasion tanking or something. Then again, I never EXP with less than two BRDs, and I agree that theres no excuse to eat sushi when you have march/march/madrigal/minuet.

I guess shit is situational. If you're swinging around 90% acc on the mobs you're fighting with the food you're using, pop on your chainmail. Thats what I'd do.

I haven't gotten to try meat at Trolls yet (the Puppetmaster could be pretty annoying...), but with their high def the slower swings, higher per hit damage sounds good on them. I don't have a max speed setup, but just piling on mostly Acc and eating kabobs with no uber DDs and 1 BRD we were able chain the Colibri infinitely. (Or until somebody had to pee or another party showed up with no BRD and slow-killed a bunch of them. ) It's better with two BRDs obviously.

I really like the AF body mostly for the lack of Eva-20 on it. As with Evasion merits I still evade a decent bit in AF. Casting Ichi less is a damage boost that people forget about.

Doesn't that make a huge statement in favour of the Shura Togi? It's debatably 'as good' as the Hauby (missing only the STR and DEX, but adds extra attack) and doesn't give the big -eva. I'll admit that I favour it, but I play mostly MNK so I may have MNK on the brain.

Ninja Chainmail (+1) if you're eating sushi. If you're eating sushi the only mobs that you should have any trouble hitting are mamool ja lurkers w/ warm up. You can macro in haub(+1) for that.

    Haub(+1) if you're eating meat.

Everything else is some sort of comprimise, and parses worse.

Re: TPing in Ninja Chainmail...is it really that good?

Correct me if im wrong, but didnt the changes to Dual Weild mean that more dual weild will decrease your delay but net you lss TP per hit? Thus having the body equiped may grant you 5% more attacks per 100 lets say, but it wouldnt give you 5% faster TP (not directly, but I guess the extra chance to double attack would help a bit). While the shura body or Hauby+1 would increase the damage of each of your hits, help you lands more hits (I would wager a better increase in damage from the extra hits and attack then the measly extra 5 swings in 100 from the af body).

Af body is fun, but it just doesnt really compare to haub/shura for damage, but then again i havent experienced on anything so low on evasion that i can just toss out my accuracy and go hog wild in a long long time.. friggen bird camp >.>
