Guttler for WAR?

Well my intent wasn't to create a bitchfest about why X job (despite being given Y skill) can't equip Z weapon... There is a bit of a difference between creating a balance among the relic system of weapons (arguably one of the most time/gil consuming aspects of endgame) and wondering why SE put +10 shield skill on Warlock's Boots.

I think it would be in the best interest of SE to take a look at the relic weapon set as a whole and try to make it more balanced. The Guttler stood out to me because it seemed odd to me that such a nice weapon would be (according to wiki's list) the one that has been upgraded the very least...

Yep yep yep everything you've said has been repeated a billion times, SE aren't touching relics or dynamis, unless they get a flood of email sent to their comments and suggestion boxes, otherwise you're talking to the wrong crowd.

Like I said earlier in the thread - I wasn't meaning to beat a dead horse. If there is another thread that discusses possible suggestions/changes to the relic weapons system, I'd sincerely appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction (I looked for a long time and wasn't able to find anything)...

I don't know exactly how changes are made in this game. All I do know is that it seems like the good changes that SE has made recently to this game were ideas that surfaced on this forum long ago. Somehow SE is listening to the player base and I wanted to see how much demand was out there to see some type of changes made in this arena.

They said they aren't overlooking the majority of the older content until they wrap up ToAU. I'm sure the demand is there for change, but not enough to push SE to do something at this time.

I think it's been shown SE follows the "majority rules" way in their decisions, and so far I don't exactly hear the majority of the FFXI player base cry about Guttler. I haven't even heard any WARs cry about Guttler (until now). I think the best I've ever gotten is a shrug and a "meh, idc." Consider the amount of crying that was done over Ulli - that's the neighborhood it takes for them to make such a change.

Also, if you're looking for logical reasons for why not, /point at what everyone else said better than me. A lot of shit in this game don't make sense, suck it up.

probably will never happen, but they did boost mandau base damage (although that was part of the larger dagger change), so its possible with enough whining/bitching they could change the less useful relics.

Exactly, they HAVE touched relics by boosting mandau (even if it came along with the other dagger boosts), but they still changed it. they also added shield so with enough pressure i'm sure they'd be open to the idea of changing relics.
