Guns are useful for many things beyond home protection! For example, they are an integral part of my zombie survival strategy. They are also very effective at solving any problems you may have with overzealous drivers or ex-boyfriends/girlfriends.
It sucks that everything has to be catered to the lowest common denominator in society, because not everyone deserves to be punished. The select few crazy bastards have to ruin everyone's quality of life. Gtfo my planet.
You know what helps eliminate the LCDs fucking up society? Guns.Originally Posted by Ddz

I guess that makes sense, though. Yeah, I may have been going 55 in a 40, but I'm not going to put a bullet in a cop. That must make them feel all warm and fuzzy inside.Originally Posted by Devek
The cop isn't scared lol.
Have a concealed permit also means you pass extensive OSBI background checks and stuff like that. This makes it less likely for him to pull you out of your car and beat you just for the fun of it.

Alot of you are missing the point. They banned the game due to it's excessive graphic nature, I didn't see any parallels drawn between child violence and video game purchasing. You're all lumping this together with a totally different topic and getting all heated about it. The censors simply decided a game about a psycopath sneaking up and murdering people with no objective/reason was just a bit much. The article even suggested that they simply give it an adult rating, not outright ban it altogether. The final banning was just some drastic measure that apparently wasn't considered but was necessary for some reason (prolonged arguments over the matter?).
P.S. I didn't feel like reading the same post about bad parenting 20 times so I just replied, if someone else said what I said then oh well![]()
Just to elaborate on what Maguspk said; even if the game wasn't "banned" it wouldn't have been released. They would have had to have dealt with major chains not supporting an AO rated game, and that's if they could convince Nintendo and Sony to go back on their "No AO rated games on our systems" policy.
I think this has less to do with our rights and freedoms and more to do with Rockstar crossing the line and releasing a product that would have been bad for business. I think now was a bad time to release this kind of game either way, the industry is already under a lot of pressure from Jack Thompson and his clique of idiots, the last thing that needs to come out right now is an actual murder simulator.
But I really wanted this game![]()
A guy who's screen name is "PyramidHead" wants a game where you mercilessly kill people? Whoa, didn't see that one coming.Originally Posted by PyramidHead
I still think it's connected. It's censorship by a vocal minority. They suggest rating the game AO instead of banning it because bans always bring attention to something. Then it actually receives an AO rating, meaning that it won't be put out on 2/3 of all gaming platforms available. There's nothing to be done about it, because it really comes down to nintendo/sony's willingness to tread into the murky swamp that can be AO content. It's very clever, and kudos to them, but it's still bullshit.Originally Posted by PyramidHead
Edit: It doesn't seem like a large leap to me to say that microsoft might choose not support AO content either, just due to the implications. Then getting an AO rating is pretty fucking effective in stifling whatever content is being rated. Then what?
I didn't read anyone's posts, or even the whole article...
But all I gotta say is that it's not the games that causes kids to be violent, it's just the kids themselves that are extremely dumb. Kids are getting dumber and dumber these days if they think that shooting someone won't kill them or it's ok. Video games don't teach them to be violent, it just shows them violence kills people. And they should know that already. People know how to kill and have known how to kill for ages. People are just finding an excuse for kids being dumber.
I played tons of games, I never for once thought that hitting someone over the head with a bat would make them not get hurt and somehow make them happier and candy would pop out everywhere and everyone would break out in dance with happy monkeys in hats goin nuts.
Im seriously worried for the next generation and how emotionally and cognitivly theyre going to be fucked from having the dumbest mother fucking parents of any generation yet.
Huh? When did the kids who might have bought this game show their stupidity? Are you suggesting Manhunt2 would have enlightened and brought our children to be better parents overall. Isn't that also suggesting video games affect the persona, isn't that what 90% of the internet community vehemently opposes?Originally Posted by Axil

Of course now my entire class of 8-9 year olds (who play and watch 18 rated games and movies on a regular basis - don't get me started on that one) are now all eagerly plotting how the heck to get their hands on this game that they wouldn't have even heard of... since it's basically been given free hype by the news over here.
I worked at Gamestop, and they wouldn't let kids buy M rated games. Sometimes the parents would come up to us and ask "Why didn't you let my kid buy this game?" and we'd have to answer "Well, because it's rated M because ..."
If we sold a game to a minor like that, we could have gotten fired.
I lol'd at this one, lol love it.Originally Posted by Ivve

Demented screams echo around the dank asylum that has caged you for the last six years. You open your eyes. A white-coated body slumps to the floor through your shaking hands. A bloody syringe slips from your arm. Waves of confusion and paranoia crash over you. You have no idea who you are or how you got here.
The door to your cell is open. One choice. One chance. They took your life. Time to take it back.
