    Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs

I'm guessing BLM is SOL for soloing 3rd floor one, but do you think (Wizerd, OP) that an appropriately geared blm could manage the 4th floor QQTH? I'd love to try it but I'm worried my unwillingness to camp a red dragon for fire crystals for a year removes any chance I have.

Might it be possible to log out after a fresh pois2 and bio2 for both of the THs? that would ensure losing hate as long as you can get out before they decide to stop running and fight. I'm interested in trying some of this, but I don't think I can convince my group the same when we could just as easily farm all the NMs we want with the same party of 6 that would be letting me in, lol.

    Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs

Lucked out and got Legs/Feet upon entering. Skipped up to the second floor, tried QQA. I lost hate while it was casting Firaga, and it depopped at 70%. Tried the 3rd floor QQTH. I was able to manage it, with some effort.

When it starts to run from the 3/4 teleportal, it always goes all the way to the 2/3 teleportal. When it starts to run from the 2/3 teleportal, it seems like it has about a 50/50 chance of running all the way or turning back about 1/3 of the way through. It's like Wizerd said, the biggest challenge is reaching the other side before it's DoTs wear off. Sometimes the Poison/Bio wearing off message would appear right when I got there. It could be possible to do without W Legs. You would need to use your DoTs wisely making sure to cast Poison or Bio at the very last possible moment, making sure you're as far down the path as possible. Bringing silent oils is probably a good idea to speed things up going through the middle.

Afterwards, I zoned up to the fourth floor and did the QQTH there. It was much much easier, really I could imagine a good black mage soloing it. You don't need enhanced movement speed, when the QQTH is after you it runs at a normal rate. You can kite it around the teleport room pretty easy too, just be careful not to get too close to it.

No drop there either, I zoned up and tried to do the QQA on the fifth floor. I cast Poison II on it, and then had to run because there was a train of stuff on me(Yeah I could have done this much better). When I went back in to the room, it was gone. I decided I should probably zone up or die from my train, so I did. I found the QQA waiting at the teleportal up, he warped a few seconds later.

I still had lots of time and felt like messing around, so I decided to try and kill an Archaic Gear. It wasn't hard, I just took it to one of those small rooms and DoT'd to death and got a pair of Nemain's Slops(lol).

Going to try it again soon, hopefully I can round up enough people to put me in again.

Hmmm, you can lose hate very easily on the 4th floor QQTH, at least, I was able too. all I did was Bio II>Poison II then run away to corner and invis up(was doing invis for safety but maybe required?)

I took it 100>0% this way losing hate every single time. And yes, a Blm could kill the 4th floor QQTH w/o
    much problem.

    Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs

I see, that's probably a better way to do it. I was just sort of kiting it around with DoTs on, throwing in a Blizzard IV when I could to speed things up. Also, the 3rd floor QQTH has TP regain.

    Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs

I went in again, didn't get anything good out of the initial cells besides the ones that are gauranteed. I got the 2nd floor QQA down to 70%, at which point it warped. I was just standing there letting Utsu take the spells though. I think the warping could possibly be prevented by losing aggro or maybe even staying very far away. Wizerd might have been doing that, which would explain how he was able to get it down so far before it warped. Maybe it's possible to kill by continually losing hate.

I was able to manage the 3rd floor QQTH, although it was much more annoying. Make sure you bring a stack of silent oil / tonko tools if you're going to try this. I was also wrong in my previous assumption of it never running back from the 3/4 teleporter. It seems to be distance based, i.e., if you try and pursue it too closely, chances are good it will at some point come back to you. You can barely make it without W legs before your DoTs wear off, so I guess the trick here is to find an equilibrium where it will never try and come back to you. I think a good BLM could do this if they brought some meds or if they found that equilibrium point.

I tried what Kris suggested on the 4th floor and it worked beautifully, although I used a slight variation. It would sometimes come back to the corner I was hiding in, so instead of hiding in a corner, I took to hiding behind those pillars. If it returned to the same side I was on, I could just move around the pillar and it wouldn't see me. The method I got down was really painless. Before you cast anything on it, position yourself so that you're on the opposite side it's going to run. Cast one of your DoTs, then wait til it returns(Hide behind the pillar so it doesn't aggro you). It will eventually come back, at which point it could stop or move to the other side and stay there. If it stops, put up your other DoT and repeat this. Make sure you wait until your DoTs wear off before recasting them. The timing of how long it takes to run back and forth x2 and the length of Poison/Bio match nicely, it's easy to keep both DoTs up. If it moves to the other side, simply follow it and get behind it before casting your DoT.

I was messing around some more on the fourth floor, although not much success there. However, if you can manage a way to solo the 2nd floor QQA, I think you could manage this one. You'd need to kill that Archaic Gear that patrols the hallway, or maybe decoy pull it somehow.

    Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs

I'm gonna go in tomorrow, hoping for better luck. Earlier today when I went I got Velum, Cirrocumulus, and Undulatus x2. No HP, MP, or decent equipment cells. Velum was nice though.

Edit: For the QQA, my general thinking before engaging it was that if I ran into a different wing after aggroing it, it would follow me there first before thinking about going to the portal in the middle, because its first instinct is to kill, with its second being to Warp. If you can keep it away from its normal path while DOTing it and not directly damaging it, I think it'll continue to chase you down until it can kill you. At which point if it does, it'll Warp, so there's no second chance on this guy. After I cast the DOTs, I would run just out of his casting range so that the spell wouldn't hit me, no matter which spell it was (unless it was an elemental DOT, where it'd hit me before I could run out of range). The only thing to watch out for is that the door is closed for 3 of the wings going out, so when you get close to the door you have to stop and let it cast its next spell. If it's an -aga III, make sure you have room to get out of range, THEN head back past it. Any other spell and you can just run on by during the spell. Recast DOTs when it's casting single target spells on you. I'd say it took maybe 10-15? minutes to get it to 30%. Total estimate though.

    Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs

Having to be on the portal to warp would perfectly explain all of the behavior I've seen thus far. It would explain why the QQA on the fifth floor ended up on the portal as well when I ran in a completely different direction. One thing that is worth noting is that I died right off the bat when I pulled the 5th floor QQA(Firaga with nowhere to run because of that Archaic Gear). However, when I died, it didn't depop or head to the portal. It just stood there in the same spot. If all else fails, maybe you could necro it with DoTs.

Well on my longer 2nd floor QQA fights when its Warped, it's almost always run to the porter, then back to it's spawn point before Warping.

    Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs

im curious as to if this will work or not... been wanting to try it before but back then we didnt wanna risk wasting a run

whenever we're ready to enter any zone, we wait till everyone in the ally is near the remnants door. my question is what is the range required for people to be warped into the remnants?... more specifically, if 5 people are sitting at the nyzul isle start point, and 1 person is at the remnants enterance, could they enter solo? or will a message pop up saying not enough members in range? what if the people are waiting in whitegate instead?

For Assault it works if they are anywhere inside the staging point, but if they go outside the door they can't get in. I've never personally tried it, but my guess is Salvage is similar. The only people it considers as being in your alliance are people who are on your same map, with everyone else being ignored.

they have to be on same map, or it says members are out of range and you can't enter.

Perhaps people could hit to zone down when you hit to enter? Anyone ever try this? Could try it on an assault as well.

QQA 2F down, 3 Velum cells, and a Fanatic's Drink, Dusty Wing, Lethe Water in chest.

Only screenshot I took, in case anyone was like "PoiDH!".

I disconnected during 4th floor QQTH and came back dead with Reraise apparently exhausted before full D/C, so I had to home point which was kinda gay..

Actually, I was counting on having died just before my character disapppeared, close enough to the D/C that reraise hadn't popped up yet. If that happened, reraise woulda popped up when I got back on, regardless of losing buffs upon re-entry. But I died too early, oh well.

GG on the QQA solo. Would you mind sharing what your exact strategy panned out to be? I've been busy IRL, have yet to be able to do this again since Thursday.

DOT -> run to the end of a different wing (making sure it follows you). If it follows you once, you're pretty much set because you know it'll keep doing so (should anyway). I was RDM/NIN so I could absorb spells. Use both Bio II and Poison II. Every time I reached the end of a wing I'd leave some room, make sure it wasn't casting an -aga III (if it was I'd run to the end, to safety), and then pass it. A lot of the time I just stood still for a little, but make sure you don't sit still too long because I think it'll run to porter and begin its Warp sequence if you do. I did toss nukes on it, I tried first Blizzard III around like 70% I think and it took it down 10%ish, and then occasionally after that. Just don't stay still too long casting nukes unless it's during say, an AM spell.

I finished it off with Blizzard III -> II because I was worried about it warping soon. Paranoia.

Could the QQA's be finished purely with DoT? Or is it too risky for warping?

Re: Soloing Arrapago Remnants QQTHs & QQAs

If a blizzard III did about 10% I'm guessing you could probably chainspell nuke it down at around 50% before it got a chance to warp? If you didn't get an mp cell then it might be tough, but otherwise it should work if you're nervous about it warping (assuming it doesn't warp before you get it to 50%, that is.)
