    Pulver v. Penn

    who will win? discuss.

I'm going for Pulver to win, but BJ Penn is an awesome with submissions, could go either way.

EDIT: this isn't about any other sport being superior to another, or how you think MMA sucks. If you'd like to make a topic about go ahead we'll debate there.

I like ufc but there is no chance of me watching this fight live, or shouldn't be for anyone with HBO for that matter

I believe Jens is 21-7-1 which isn't too bad. I won't be watching the fight live since I have to work, but I would if I were at home. Castillo and Hutton is boxing on HBO at 9pm which I might record, might not, not real interested in either one of them.

we already had a discussion about MMA > Boxing in the Liddel v. Jackson topic, and I didn't want the topic to turn into the direction of anything other than this fight between these two people nothing more.

Hay guys, lets throw 2 punches and a kick, and then roll around on the ground hugging each other for the rest of the match.

Most of the UFC fights as of late have been lacking. However, when Penn really wants a fight, he usually dominates it and he wants to rip Pulver's head off.

I say Penn by submission end of 1st round.

his record is a bit irrelevant considering he left the UFC for a long time, and has been horrible since coming back. I'm not saying Boxing > UFC, I'm saying the calibur of this match pales extremly to Hatton and Castillo, I know everyone says lolboxing titles, but this is for The RIng Title which boxing fans do care about.

    I don't follow boxing enough.

now keep boxing out of the thread!

Anyway, Jens is going to drop down to featherweight division and fight in the WEC, which is owned by UFC.

I like both of the fighters it's just I'd rather see Jens win for some reason.

Dunno who will win but I am rooting for Pulver. As a fighter, I like Penn more but I would love to see how Penn reacts if he loses to Pulver yet again. So far, Penn has lost to Pulver in their first match (giving Penn his first loss), in just about every The Ultimate Figher match, and the $10K ping pong game. Can you imagine the delicious mayhem another loss would cause? :D

Penn will actually train hard for a change for this fight, and he'll dominate, if for whatever reason he takes it light, well then you've got a fight.

Bump because the event is tonight.

Here's the fight card, which seems to be pretty interesting.

    http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=even...htCard&eid=636

    Here's some fights to note:

Roger Huerta vs. Doug Evans. Huerta is 19-1-1 and Evans is 6-0-0.

Rob Emerson vs. Gray Maynard. Classic striker vs. grappler, both being talented fighters.

Allen Berube vs. Leonard Garcia. This one is interesting because Dana White actually kicked Allen Berube off TUF 5 for cheering on an unsanctioned drunken fist fight between two of the competitors. Dana White once said something to the like of "when I cut off a relationship with someone that's it, it's over" I'm surprised that he'd have a change of heart to let Berube fight in this event after giving him the boot. Maybe there is some justice though, Berube will be fighting Leonard Garcia whom has never appeared on TUF. All of the other TUF 5 competitors that are on the card, are fighting their fellow TUF 5 friends. Berube appears to be fighting a 13-2-0 veteran. IDK Garcia's style but Berube didn't show off any extraordinary talent on TUF 5, and not to mention his pro fight record is only 2-1-0. So maybe Dana White is letting him back into the octagon just to watch him get his ass whooped.

Of course the main event seems worthy too. I'm cheering for Penn, although I like both of them. Also Gabe Ruediger is lol.

    Re: Pulver v. Penn

Jens lost, but it was a great fight. I'm glad they squished their rivalry because I like both of them. I will be eagerly awaiting his featherwiehgt debut in the WEC. I would love to see the Pulver v. Faber fight.

Holy shit at the Maynard v. Emerson fight. No Contest because both of them couldn't continue at the same time. That has got to be embarrasing to knock yourself out with a takedown. He said he wasn't out, but that guy was limp as hell.

Lauzon v. Melendez was a great fight, Lauzon was one of my picks to win TUF 5.

Manny v. Nate was meh, Nate was getting his ass whooped till the injury, but I did think he was going to win.

Big LOL @ Wang v. Miller, I can't even believe that got televised. High Kick to the head and then multiple strikes landing and he wants to petition it? come on, why on earth would a fucking black belt BJJ fighter want to trade licks with a guy that has 6"+ reach & 7" heighth advantage?

Berube was kicked for egging them on, but he didn't actually do any fighting, which was what pissed Dana off the most. Seeing as how they worked to make the sport seem not as hooliganish as it actually is. Garcia is a replacement for Corey Hill, whom had an injury. Whch is surprising because he went from no training to training with Jeremy Horn and Elite Performance.

    more results:
    Wiman def.Geraghty in round one.
Garcia def. lobster by submission in round one.

I didn't see these fights but I would've liked to, over the huerta fight and the middleweight one, I thought they were meh.
