I'm all for the least amount of government interference as possible, but people who would want to name their child 4real need to have their child taken away from them immediately. Even if the baby were left in the woods it would have a better chance than with idiots like that for parents.

Only if 7 is pronounced like a "V"!

That's it! I'm going to name my kid 7ictor. Or Tra7is.

    5 is apparently also pronounced like a "F". e.g. Jackson 5ive.

    5rank. Je55.

    5la7or 5la7.

You know the next step beyond naming your kids 4real is to get paid to name your kids 4realplayer.

I'm sure some corporations have approached movie stars into naming their children a product name for lifetime royalties.

Hi, meet my son Pepsi and my daughter Tampax.

Shit people are already getting tattoo's and driving labeled cars for corporate payouts.

I would name my boy Tampax just for the unique pick up line it would give him.

My Dad told me about this one African guy who was working at a casino when he went one time, his nametag had a ! in his name. Appearently you pronounce it with a distinct clicking noise.

Is that a problem Khamsin? Or is he supposed to just yell out EXCLAMATION MARK every time he says his name?

Its already been done actually. I remember reading about it. Back in 2000-2001 I believe some weird company I had never heard of, it was some online business, paid 100 families who gave birth that year to name their child after their company name. I wish I could remember the name of the company, it'd make finding the article again that much easier.

Edit: Still can't find it, but I found this which is still quite disturbing.

Rather than choosing a name themselves, Wallace, his team, and WCS auctioned off the naming rights to raise funds for FUNDESNAP (Fundación para el Desarrollo del Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas), the nonprofit organization that maintains Madidi National Park. GoldenPalace.com, one of over a dozen bidders, paid US$ 650,000.

Haha Russell Peters did a stand up with a piece on that same exact story. You could probably youtube it, it's pretty hilarious.

Most countries have laws for naming your child as well. I never looked into it in-depth, I just remember from social studies in school that you can't legally have more than three first names and the name needs to be "reasonable" but this is in Finland.

There are some gems out there already though:

That's a bit different, don't you think? It's like saying you can't name your child with grave or acute accented vowels, but all it really does is allow the reader to know the immediate pronunciation without having to hear the word spoken.

And you do realise that the African casino worker with a !bang! in his name is actually from a comedy routine by Russel Peters.

I went to school with a guy whose legal name was ABC, he got the name because his parents couldn't spell his Chinese name when they came over.

    ...we all called him Abe
