Yeah, my best friend's dad almost lost a foot in an accident and they put it back on. He has trouble walking or standing for extended periods of time, but it's still mostly functional. But like other people said, the feet fell from a pretty significant height. That probably fucked them up beyond the "can be salvaged" point.

177 feet without any additional weight, and they're still in shoes. I'd think they'd be salvageable.

then you figure in likelihood of picking up an infection somewhere along the line of being dragged through the inner workings of a machine, likelihood that said dragging and the force that ripped them off shattered the bones beyond repair, etc

I don't think they'd be reattached, and if they are, it would probably be more cosmetic than functional

Didn't Mythbusters test this exact myth where a cable cannot cut you in half? LOOKS LIKE THEY NEED TO RE-DO IT!

that was a cable snapping, then whipping around and cutting someone in half

this was a loop of cable from nowhere that wrapped around her feet and pulled them off, from the sound of it

Ive been to that park over a dozen times, and rode that ride numerous times. The interesting thing about this, the line to wait for that ride practically wraps around the perimeter of the ride, which means, theres a good damn chance her feet landed on a patron. Oh that would be fucking funny to see while waiting in line.

    @_@

The currently unknown fate of said feet is going to drive me crazy. I wonder if there is any way one could ascertain this information.

Clearly, the ride was displeased with the name change and decided to show Six Flags why it should have stayed that way.

And this is why I avoid theme park and carnival rides like the motherfuckin' plague. My fiance gets pissed that I won't go on the rides, but I am paranoid as fuck and now this is just another example to support my case.

lol I used to be like that when I was like 12. But then at 14 had a blast at Busch Gardens in Tampa and love rides.

The way I look at it is this, statistically that girl won the lottery basically. Out of the millions of people a year that ride rides, maybe 10-20 in the US die or are injured all together. Maybe it's in the hundreds idk, but its not a great risk. They really test the shit out of rides before they release them.

That is horrible, can you imagine being that girl, only 16 years old and your life will never be the same. I am sure with the technology these days they could put something where her feet used to be and after years and years of rehab maybe she could walk on whatever was there, but not w/o a cane or something. See: Lieutenant Dan

This is a true tragedy though.

I hear ya. It's mostly the carnival rides I don't trust...those fuckin' carnies. I went to the Erie County Fair up here in Buffalo and every ride had huge ass speakers blasting rap music. So when I strapped myself into a ride and felt that the cage I was in wasn't secure enough, I decided to shout for help before they started the ride to double check it.

Sure enough, motherfucker can't hear me. Why? Cuz the music is so loud. I swear this thing wasn't latched all the way down, and on the entire ride was me trying to keep this thing locked down so I didn't fly out. I was fucking shaking when I got off the ride and my fiance was giggling like a little schoolgirl because she loved the ride so much.

Then again...I went to a Busch Gardens in VA and had an aweseome time. I went on every roller coaster as least twice, and sometimes waiting extra long to get in the front car. But that was when I was 15 and felt indestructable. I'm a little more weary about my own death at 27.

I was thinking more along the lines of, Imagine being a 16-year old already hormone-riddled girl, and then have that shit to deal with on top? Holy crap.

They were able to recover her feet. She had surgery at the hospital, but no word on what exactly they did. Article just highlights they found her feet and brought them to the hospital.
