SMNs will demand Alexander and Odin, even if it makes no fucking sense within the context of the story, and SE will probably give them what they want.

    I have forseen it.

HAY GUYS WE SHOULD GET DOOMTRAIN.

To that link, I don't see too much information on MBing, unless I missed something. I'm a bit more interested in that, as it seems any of the magical BPs before these(and Diabolos) are kind of worthless otherwise.

If they were magic burst they would do the standard 1/3 more damage assuming no resists.

People said getting Diabolos would make no sense, he was added. I'm on ToAU Mission 35 still, so I don't know how much more Alexander they've shown, but there was an Odin model that looked summonable sized.

I'd kind of like to see an avatar that's free to keep out under normal circumstances with an offensive (whether damage or debuff) AoE BP. That would be handy for running away from multiple things and camping the ocassional NM. It can have crappy base DMG like Carby too, idc.

Alexander is far more likely to be summonable than Odin.

Yeah, because it made no fucking sense for him to be summonable. From the second you meet him until the end of CoP's story, all you hear from him or about him is his stance on how humanity can go eat a dick.

Then SMNs whine and ALL OF A FUCKING SUDDEN he appears to some taru in a dream and decides that he wants, like, peace, man.

    Re: Meritable Smn BP's

I've explained this a couple times before.

"Odin Prime" was in the dats because in order for a name to appear as the speaker for some text, it must have a place in the .dat of a zone. Odin Prime was the speaker for like 2 lines of text at the end of one of the last missions added last update. He does not actually exist as a prime, but an "Odin" does exist as a mob, presumably as the boss of Odin's Chamber.

The way I remember it, he didn't hate people, he just thought it was hopeless to try and save the world. Didn't he offer shelter in Dynamis? In 5-2 I believe he says that when some Kuluu survivors came to him asking him to free them of the curse he did help them out, but it seems they became Cryptonberries as a result. So he's just a little stupid. It's not like he's Bahamut and wants to kill us until The Wyrmking Descends (and since you can do that 100+ times, it isn't really "canon" in the sense that it will have an effect on future plots). I also vaguely remember seeing us with the power/light/something to break his dream (or maybe that was Prishe?), hence why he wanted to test our strength and see if he was willing to offer his power.

Alex/Odin, eh... I doubt Alex cause it sorta played the role of Phoenix this time around (not physically there). Odin...story-wise I'm kinda confused. He has had tons of animations since ToA was released, much like Diabolos, but I'd be more concerned about conflicts with the plot. Someone clear up Alex & Odin's purposes for me.

    Re: Meritable Smn BP's

The newest SMN specific addition besides the awesome merit BPs was the Yinyang Robe. Apparently SE doesn't want to add any SMN specific gear because apparently then they'd make alliances of lots of SMNs and drop all the Bahumat V2s, Vrtras, Kirins, or whatever else in 30 seconds and trash game balance. Or something. (Imagine Perpetuation Cost -1 on the Errant set reskinned cursed gear's head piece!)

So, they pull some random reason out of their ass why Diabolos who hates mortals would suddenly want to help them.

I don't see how adding something new to a job every year or so is asking all that much. Everytime there's an announcement of an update all the players of that gimptastically geared with what's available (resulting in pathetically low potential damage) job called "Monk" clamor for a JSE set. If only SE could make them good at something. (I hope the sarcasm didn't drip all over anyone.)

SMNs do the same thing and it's whining because they're already so overpowered and uber.

Why ask for something new, when you already have awesome shit like Ice Spikesga and Shock Spikesga? Slowga is the envy of RDMs everywhere! It's even landed on a VT once before somewhere!

I'm puzzled how somebody can look at all buffs/debuffs option available to Blue Mages, and all the gear, merits, buffs, and debuffs available to other jobs and think that SMN should be stuck with a useful "variety" that hasn't improved much since 2005.

Woosh. Monks want a crafted high-level set for town-wear.

    Re: Meritable Smn BP's

so, Diabolos and Odin "make no sense"?
the basic principle beside summons it's not that avatars are friendly creatures in bright colors resembling pokemons, the are mighty beings usually hostile to strangers who accept to aid someone's cause once he has proven worth.
Diabolos in CoP was not as cruel as Bahamut, he wanted to help the people but in his own fashion; once he had been proved wrong, and beaten two times, he decided to share the players' point of view and help protect Vana'diel; it's perfectly logical.

Odin, being the warfare maniac he's depicted, would be a perfect Prime to duel; he welcomes brave warriors above everything else, so prove him you're made of something and it's a deal. Besides, any Avatar only gives you a small shard of it's power, he doesnt become chained by the summoner or what.

As for the "Odin Prime" thing, that name doesnt prove he's summonable, it just proves he's an *avatar* in Vanadiel terms. Cerberus isnt, for example, so there is no chance in hell the 3headed dog will ever been summonable.
Finally, Odin is dark based, cool and plays a big role in the expansion plot; so were Fenrir and Diabolos. My guesses are he will be summonable someday, and he could even fit game mechanics giving summoners something to use in fast paced tasks like any "burn" situation.

Oh, I suddenly reminded on how terrible our Wings of the Goddess forum was.

So can someone point me to any tests of people MBing these Summoner BPs? (The ones that this topic is actually about).

Click the Alla thread linked to by Hakamaru. Multiply the damage listed by 4. Then divide that by 3.

Blood Pact: Rages work the same magic bursted as every other damage spell magic bursted.
