Exactly my thoughts. I had gone all the way through highschool without giving two shits about music whatsoever. It's important to me now, but mostly as therapy or motivation. Being deaf to music made me instantly think of that Robert Redford movie Sneakers. When the deaf guy has his sweet little soundboard with random samples and they piece together where he traveled to in the trunk of a car just by the patterns of bumps in the road and the sounds of birds and whatnot. (Good movie, by the way) I originally thought you'd totally lose your sense of rhythm, but then realized what you said, and you would definitely develope more of an appreciation of the natural rhythm you find anywhere and could probably eventually make some amazing music via feeling the vibrations of sound.

However, I still vote no. Music has much too much of a strong tie with nostalgia for me. Everything from Chip&Dale Rescue Rangers theme song, to hearing Pet Shop Boys and Madonna at my parents' parties when I was a brat, to the credit song in The Breakfast Club. Nostalgia is one of the favorite things in the world and music is such a catalyst for it, I can't live without it. Even if it does mean my entire family and further generations living comfortably for their days. Sorry kids.

I could live comfotably on 100k a year, so yes. I listen to music when I ride, just because listening to my muffler and the wind noise is boring, but I could live with it for that much money. I could still do many of the things I enjoyed without music. Also, for the reasons Ivve stated, especially for my Dad who has done construction work for 30 years and it's been wearing him down for a long time.

And besides, not being able to have something only makes you want it more. I'm sure a deaf man would LOVE to hear the sound of birds chirping just as much as you would LOVE to screw Jessica Biel. This logic fails when you're comparing it to actually sacrificing something, such as the sound of music when you could do SO MUCH MORE in your life without it + 50 freakin' million dollars.

How is this even being debated? I mean seriously, if you cant fathom the amount of good things you could do in this world with that kind of leverage then I really dont think you deserve to even smell the money anyway.

People who make amazing music (the ones who music is truely important to) have way more than 50 mil anyways. Id rather be poor and make music as an outlet for my emotions than be rich and unhappy
