I won't deny the usefulness of cellphones, but some people ruin it for the rest by being asshats about it. Have you ever seen a guy with TWO bluetooth headsets? He's so important that he has two separate phones with two headsets so he can talk to two people at the same time!

never seen that guy, but i have a funny feeling id have a deep desire to punch him in the face if i did. theres also the people who have a sidekick AND a cellphone, i just dont get it sometimes.

Went on a business trip with him earlier this week and after our stay at a hotel and he admitted he fell asleep while talking to someone on his phone and woke up it ringing in his ear.

The plans provided for iPhone at 59.99 at the cheapest and go up to 99.99, that's per month btw... you spend more on the plan for a year than the phone, pretty fucking lame. I gotta buy 3 and resell at 200% the price just to pay for the phone :/

If I had faith they could sell for 100% profit I'd do it but I'm doubting it now...I don't see iPhones going for more than 1200 or even 1000. I woulda just got a friend who might buy one to buy 2 instead with some cash. Not a problem :/

chances are that at most retail they will only allow one purchase per person (im thinking opening night w/lines).

There will not be a shortage. You will most likely be able to get one today or tomorrow, but IF they sell all million units that got shipped, the next shipment is planned for 10 days from now at about half the amount of units. Apple prepared well for this, unlike Sony and Nintendo's huge product launches, there really shouldn't be a vast shortage.

As for what you can get on eBay, expect not much more than a 40% return. I realize they're going for $1,200 now but once everyone sees that there is no shortage they will most likely come down to $800-$900 or less.

Yes, anyone who buys one off eBay is an idiot. For those who were thinking of buying one to sell on eBay, I wouldn't risk it. With all the eBay fees, you probably won't make enough profit to make it worth it, assuming you can sell it at all.

Keno is totally right about the supply. I probably should not give out numbers but let me just say that those people that camped out at stores for hours or days were wasting their time. Well, let me correct myself, not totally wasting their time. The Apple Stores are giving out exclusive gift bags to the first few purchases.

today i was walking on the upper east side of manhattan going to meet my mom for lunch. i saw a long line of people standing outfront of a bunch of stores, i thought it was weird, until i saw it was a AT&T store. I had to stand there for a second, observe the scene, overweight, unkept people, pizzas, laptops, beach chairs, and i started to laugh at all of them. I should have taken my ipod out of my pocket, and my cellphone out of its holster, held them together and said i had my very own iphone

Showed up at my local AT&T store today at 5:30 (about 30 minutes before launch); I was 41st in line. A rep walked out and told us that they had 40 8 gigs and 20 4 gigs. Needless to say I walked back to my car.

I called up the local Apple store and they told me they had about 400 in stock (lol), so I drove over there, walked up to the store, and was in and out with my 8 gig iPhone within 5 minutes. As expected, no need to wait in those ridiculous lines.

So now I've been using it all day and all I can say is "wow". It's the most amazing piece of technology I have come across to date. I absolutely love it. And I know a lot of people are complaining about the $600 price tag, but I just got done selling my old phone and iPod, so I really only ended up paying about $250, making it a true steal. Yeah, 8 gigs isn't enough for my entire music library but it's certainly enough to carry all the songs I may want for one trip and then I can just change the songs when I get back home. <3 iphone

I'm with T-Mobile atm, and I believe we're paying about 50 bucks for 3000 minutes, and AT&T want like 120 for 2000, so how exactly are they even competitive with their prices?

Just for the pricetag on the plans I've decided to hold off on buying the iphone, at least for now.

I'm just assuming that the phone you had before may have been a cheaper plan because it wasn't requiring such a different kind of service as far as what it needs from the telephone network to function properly.

I have the $60/month plan and it's enough minutes for me. I think the most expensive plan is $100/month? Either way, yeah, it includes unlimited e-mail/data.

Went to the apple store today 4 hours after they went on sale, the line was gone and they still had a good 5 or 6 dozen left to sell. 3 things.

1) The phone itself is pretty fucking solid, it seriously did impress me when I got to try it out. It's everything it's cracked up to be, an amazing piece of equipment.

2) They had hired tools to cheer for pretentious fucks who would leave the store with a phone, I seriously facepalmed.

3) Since it has a youtube button I ended up loading the over 9000 video on 1 demo and rickroll on 2 others before I left >_>

I think you are trying to compare your regular phone's plan (like a razor or w/e) rather than comparing other smartphone plans (even though even that is still an apples to oranges compariosn). Other smartphones have pretty much the same prices for service. Some cap out at even more per month.

My g/f easily pays $100 or more for her Treo.
