    >.> At 246 you're not even in the top tier (i.e. the worst one) of skill up rate for EMs. Go to Boyhada Tree on your NIN with a fuckton of Parry+ gear including 2 parrying knives, get signet for the def/eva bonus, sub WHM|RDM|PLD, and pull 2 steelshells at once and sustain MP with energy drain. Easily 2-3* levels per hour off EMs until you get to around 254 skill on NIN. After you get to ~254, the pain begins. Go read the parrying threads on KI in the NIN section if you need more. Rukenshin gave some pimp suggestions for if you have RDM and BRD buddies, but I soloed my skill for the most part.

I feel like I'm linking these threads at least once a week now!

    The old BG thread:
    viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16869&hilit=den+of+rancor+par ry+skill+up

    And again on KI:
    http://www.killingifrit.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=151154

Both threads are worth reading IMO if you really want to work on Parry skill ups.

And, in regard to 2h weapons vs dual wielding for parry rate... If anything I've found I tend to parry a lot more with a 2h weapon. Which also seems to make the most sense, seeing as it's a lot easier to parry attacks with a bigger weapon.

At your parrying level, beastmen monks are the way to go. My favourite where the yag coffer key droppers in castle Oz. And you are right, it's boring as hell. However, you can agro the 5 yags near the torch and fight em at once to wake your ass up, it works ;o After that, I'd kick it in boyanda (sp) and train 10+ or so mouriche and, well, that's it. I managed to get to get 189 parrying there. I had minimal physical -% equip such as: cheviot, jelly ring, terra staff, buy a bunch of tacos, and you're good to go. Of course, it works better if you are a RDM

10-15 total hours over a month, for over 100 points of parry? How, please, how can you even start to complain about over 100 points of parry in that much time. I gained between 8-12 points of parry PER HOUR. Not .8-1.2, 8-12 FULL points per hour. People are usually happy to get .5 in a week (at least I am as a thief). Without chigoes, my parry would still be around 150ish, and I farm constantly as thief. But hey, if 1 full point of parry every 5 minutes is too slow for you, please tell me a better method.

    Where to find chigoes:

These are the chigoes I know of. Go from black > red > blue (from bottom to top)

    Enjoy, if this helps anyone...

and yeah sorry it breaks the page i'll take the pics out or edit them tomorrow when I get time.

Chigo's sounds like a good idea. Gonna give that a shot. :D Parry @ 213 and mostly from soloing on thf.

I'm probaly gonna wear full damage down gear and equip an earth staff. Every other slow fill with Agi gear. :D

Ugh, i still have to do the mire thing for the rest of my guard skillups. I'm just bearly finishing up at 140. Its going to be a long road.

Nikorun, i think the best thing you can do for your parry is not use a shield at all because it will proc much more than the parry.I know with guard I tried using guard skill+ gear, but i'm not sure the +skill gear improves the rate all that much =/

chigoes in mire wont take you very far vagus, and once you hit 220ish, it will slow down greatly. Chigoes from marids however, is another story

Shield is one of the last defensive traits checked now. I think it is something along the lines of evasion > parry > shadow > damage > damage reduction > shield. But if you are trying for parry skill ups, earth/Terra's staff just seems like a better option for damage reduction and proc rate.

    Re: Parry Skillup

hmm, well you can milk chigoes in mire for about 10 points (wiki is down for me, so i cant check skill caps at the moment) but after that, if you have a friend that can help you...do chigoes off marids. Make sure you have hate on the marid when it ws's, and the chigoe will stay on you indefinitely (so you can be healed without fear of it leaving you, as long as your friends dont cast on the chigoes or sit near them)

I think chigoes off marid lvld are nerfed though, I've never seen one over lvl 74, but wiki somepage and alla list them at 70-77 or so?

The higher level Marid Chigoes might be from the Grand Marids which tend to be higher level than the T-VT marids you usually find.
