Chrono Cross on a PSX Emulator

ive been having mad issues getting this game to work. it will load and let me select new game and such, but after i confirm all i get is a black screen.

has any1 else had this problem before? if so what did you do to fix it? any help would be much appreciated.

i use the epsxe 1.6.0 emulator
