Yeah, generally speaking, unless it comes packaged with the system, its never going to become mainstream. I think one of the notable exceptions was the PS1 switching from its old controller to the dual-shock over its life cycle, but that was kind of forced I guess.
Although, this debate belongs in the console wars and not this thread, keep it about VC games here. I've got a question though. For those who play on the VC, is it pretty solid emulation? No slowdown, graphic errors, etc?

Yeah, I just wish it'd actually play games directly off the SD cards, would just make more sense. Are they just worried about pirating or something? As far as I know, the VC games are only playable on the system they're bought on anyway, right?
