buying it on an impulse means buying it when you weren't planning to buy it...you don't have to be completely oblivious to the fact that something exists for it to be an impulse buy.

When i got my new car I consider it an impulse buy. I knew i needed a car cause my old one was leaking on me when it rained. but i didn't set a time to get one, or what kind i wanted to get. one day at work i drive in with my old car, and out with my new car. (i actually worked at the dealership at the time) i walked into my managers office on a whim and said, how much could i get that car for, and 30 minutes later i was done with the paperwork. a 12,000 dollar impulse purchase.

This thread is doomed, 2nd derail in the last 24 hours

feel free to delete all of these as well!

Who said an expensive item can't be an impulse buy?

I don't consider 250 to be that expensive, especially for a console... and I used to buy games on impulse all the time back in the day (now I just gamefly them to check them out first) when I would go in to trade something at GS.

If I didn't own a Wii and saw it on a shelf while randomly going through some store (target, costco, what have you), I probably would've picked it up without putting too much thought into it.

If that's how you think of impulse buy then why are we even singling anything out as an impulse buy?

I realize that. And I wish I hadn't. That doesn't mean the discussion should continue here, I was just trying to ask, not tell you to do anything.

Was F-Zero X significantly better than the SNES version, beyond graphics? I have some fond memories of the game on the SNES.

Me too, I was all over F Zero and Falcon punch on the SNES.

But I never got around to trying it on the 64.

Same deal with Ogre Battle, loved march of the black queen on SNES, but never got around to ogre battle 64.

I never played FZ on snes much. I remember it having a very simple feel though. F Zero X is an awesome game, very good challenge, awesome levels, super fast. Great time.

    Re: Official Virtual Console Thread

I think the N64 version was the best in the series. The graphics are pretty simplified, for an N64 game -- lots of very bland polygons -- but it's for a reason: framerate and speed. It's a gamer's game, a good hardcore racer that doesn't waste cycles on background noise that isn't really important anyway.
