The perfect compromise to me wanting to see the movie and me not wanting to fund Michael Moore's fat face. Kudos.
Yeah jeez, he looked like a blob on the daily show. Michael hungry!
i knew this country was bad... but not this bad
i'm only halfway through the movie and i'm disgusted beyond belief
Yea, he is good at portraying those feelings. And it is a good thing if you feel that way watching his movies.
Thanks for the link man.
I hate Michael Moore so much it almost makes me want to support the opposition, regardless of what it is. He could make a movie about how it's bad to kill people, and it would make me want to find a way to excuse murderers.
Agreed, the man might make a point, but he's so radical sometimes it does anger me. lol, Not that i'm defending anyon here, I just can't stand the man.Originally Posted by Ivve
Eh, he does what he does and he gets the point across. The way I look it is we need the Rosie's and Michael's to counterbalance the Cheney's and Pat Robertsons in the country. If they were so far out to the left, we'd be too exposed to only far right kooks from a central stance.
That's no beuno imo.
I agree with that sentiment, sort of. I'm glad that he supports the things that he does; I agree with a lot of his opinions. I don't agree with how he chooses to get his points across, though. He twists facts and edits together different pieces of footage to make his opponents into monsters, when really just telling the truth would have done just as well. It gives the other side more ammunition when they discover that sort of thing, and gives people legitimate grounds to dismiss what he has to say. He also needs to start correcting people when they call his films "documentary" work, because they're not. Documentaries are not partisan.Originally Posted by MF Perm
Either way, love him or hate him, we at least get exposed to important issues and it gets people thinking.
amen, sista'
And now for the real clown show:

Ok, so i just finished the movie, thought it was well done. I can already see the flames coming regarding his manipulation of interviews and things of that nature, which is fine, but there certain things that I cant see arguing against. For example, the woman who went to the hospital with her daughter who had a fever of over 104 and was turned away, resulting in the death of her daughter. Things like that are beyond ridiculous to me, and its a situation that should not even happen once. Period. I was pro universal healthcare before this movie, and not even for the valid arguments that Moore makes about HMOs profiting but rather I think everyone, from Bill Gates to a bum off the street, should be able to walk into a hospital and recieve medical attention.
Yeah, gets us thinking about what he wants us to think. One extreme to another.Originally Posted by Andarvi
No, gets us thinking about the issue with the American Health Care system. If a person isnt independent enough and too much of a mindless drone to simply believe everything they hear thats not moore's fault.Originally Posted by Tricen
You'd be surprised on how common that is. The healthcare system has always been fucked up, this is new?Originally Posted by Andarvi
Thats the type of mentality that has allowed it to be fucked up for so long and will continue to be so.Originally Posted by Tricen

At the end of the day no matter what side of the fence you are on or what you believe, the basic idea that the health of humanity has a price is absolutely fucking putridly asinine that it almost makes me physically sick thinking about it.
There is not an objective stance on this in Washington or Wall Street, because they don't have to worry about shit like that. It's like Maddox said, Christopher Reeve didn't give a shit about stem cells or paralysis until he became paralyzed. The guys won't face up to the issue unless it personally effects them or the people it does effect put an effect on their earnings.
Which is why I don't pay for health insurance, and neither does my fiancee. I'd rather die on the steps of a hospital than live in debt to these greedy fucks.
And what can we do about it? Absolutely nothing. I wouldn't doubt that it was common knowledge that out healthcare system is fucked up, but people realized that they have no choice. You can't do anything about it.
