It is getting really hard for me to remember what happened each month though. I almost want to reread the previous chapters before they come out now each month.

Yagi took the month off, I guess. Would hope for a double this month, but I doubt it. Kind of annoying since Naruto and Bleach tend to churn out the same number of pages in a weekly format. 35-50 would be cool with me.

Yagi took the month off, I guess. Would hope for a double this month, but I doubt it. Kind of annoying since Naruto and Bleach tend to churn out the same number of pages in a weekly format. 35-50 would be cool with me.

They take a huge hit on quality in order to make that many pages a week.

You do? Why not just read the chapter before it? Seems silly to bitch that a manga is coming out to slow when a good deal of the best manga come out monthly.

More of a different style than specific quality hit, imo. I'll agree Claymore's better (if only going by an abundance of kickbutt broads), but it's not like we're comparing stick figures to photo-realistic imagery.

I know that, but take a page from Claymore or Berserk and compare it to a weekly manga like Naruto. I'm not saying the art style is bad (on the contrary, I hate Naruto but I think the art style is great) but the quality between the two is clear like night and day. The toning, shading and composition is a lot better when you take the time to work on it.

I'm not saying Naruto's mangaka couldn't do as well, I bet if Naruto was monthly the quality would be around the same.

I'd also contend some quality lies in the hands of scanners and clean-up artists. The stuff we see on the net isn't quite as what's on the page if you had it yourself.

To a certain degree sure. But that alone doesn't help when comparing quality of actual manga. The quality of the scans is irrelevant when I can see the difference just by looking at it.

Like Naruto uses lots of ink and very little toning (cept for sweeping areas like backgrounds) while Claymore uses lots of ink and toning, for all parts of the page. The shading is done very roughly in Naruto, often overlapping in a frankly messy manner like one line stopped and then carried on in the same path, lots of areas also are simply blocked out in ink, covering it in black. While shading in Claymore is done pretty meticulously, and more carefully because it's overlapping with toning (which also has multiple shades and different types of toning, as well as highlights). There are also a lot of close up shots in Naruto that don't have any background detail and action shots often have no background at all unless relevant. Claymore also has quite a few background shots, but hardly ever veers away from adding in background detail, even if it isn't hugely needed.

iirc Claymore doesn't come out once a month for better quality. It got taken off of the weekly Jump book, and was placed in the monthly book. So that's why Claymore went from weekly to monthly. Except for this past month since the author took the month off.

And I agree, a double chapter would rock but I doubt that will happen.

Err, I'm pretty sure Claymore has always been monthly. You're confusing it getting taken out of a monthly magazine and being placed in a weekly magazine temporarily (the chapters still came out monthly even though it was in a weekly magazine) and now it's back in another monthly magazine.
