Any truth to this?

That's some funny shit.
Haven't finished reading it yet, but:
II could see alot of gay/lesbian people getting pissed at this, as it implies that being a homosexual is correlated to genes, and then they would say that it's just one more step closer to people trying to "destroy" the gay gene. Not to mention that they mention absolutly nothing about bisexuals, OHEY LOOK I'M INVISIBLE!was surprised at how many people quickly agreed to lend five minutes of their pride celebration to science. “If I could tell my mother it’s a gene, she would be so happy,” said one, Scott Quesada, 42, who sat in a chair for Lippa’s inspection.
Genetic relationships are a tough sell when determining behavior from a "born with it" point of view.
Most geniuses are left handed.
Most psychotics are as well.
Being left-handed (and neither a genius nor a psychotic, nor gay/lesbian), I believe that it has little to do with actually BEING left-handed, but more how I perceive a world where the majority is right-handed.
Page 4 of this article actually targets left-handedness and ambidexterity. What if the correlation is not simply left-handedness, but an environmental adaptation to versatility? How far-fetched is it to believe that left-handed people get into an environmental pattern of thinking outside what is "normal" because it is necessary to cope with perception by doing so?
I haven't decided if i'm going to take it at all seriously, i just found it a funny interesting read.Originally Posted by Kuya

Just use logic, besides the incredibly sexual deviant no one is attracted to all members of any specific gender. Being gay doesn't make you attracted to every man nor does being straight make you attracted to every woman. We are all looking for a specific type of person, and while the gender of someone is significant in the grand scheme of things it is also just one factor. Attraction is all based on deep psychological needs and we advertise what we need and what we are selling all the time by our words and body language. So people pick up on this stuff, no shit.
Never looked at it that way, makes alot of sense.Originally Posted by Devek

Very interesting article.
I don't think it was pro-gene tinkering at all, it was just an overview on biologically centered sexuality research over the past couple decades. As its shaping up that (homo)sexuality is indeed something that a person is born with (fucking duh), I think it's kind of an empowering thing for homosexuals. There's no more blame about bad choices or sin or whatever- it's part of who they are from the day they were born. It also brings more legal power if it can be universally recognized as true- for instance, how can you deny someone marriage based on who they naturally are?
The problems are only going to arise when people try to call it a biologic defect and when right-wingers decide they want their fetii tinkered with. But as long as the issue is presented as a perfectly healthy "variation" we can hope that good will come of it.
PS- I apparently have gay hair and hands (although the hands is questionable, my knuckles are kind of slanted/arced so I think my index/ring are about even in length).
im all for making a bisexual world
i mean really, one step toward Utopia![]()

Ironically Utopia is no place...
I have no punchline or follow up, I just thought that was ironic so I guess that failed
Utopia exists. It is just an internal thing and not an external thing![]()
