And Ears/Rings. Amele didn't say "at least" 2, s/he said 2 without exception. Virga Cell unlocks 4. :OOriginally Posted by nivlakian
Which NM do you skip? @_@ There are 6!Originally Posted by divisortheory

thanks for the correction, I won't be forgetting now, lol.
sorry I miscounted lol. I was thinking there were 6 total so I just subtracted one because of north/south separation, instead of adding up all the ones that I do killSo yea, 6.
How big of a group do you go with to kill 6 + Boss? With 6 people we just barely have time for the 6 NMs playing it safe without any sac pulls.Originally Posted by divisortheory
About 8-9 last time. It depends a lot on how lucky we get with weapon cells though. 5 people with weapons unlocked make Bhoot NM and gears on 6F go way faster.Originally Posted by Wizerd
although I was aware that ears/rings was one item, I meant to indicate that I considered ear as one slot and ring as one slot (maybe it would've been more accurate to say '2 different slots without exception'Originally Posted by Wizerd
of course I missed hands and body anyway, so I still fail.

yea, luck does play an important role in being able to do 6 + boss. for example, it really helps to have stolen a SJ cell from the QQA that way you can completely ignore gears during Bhoot and still have 2 blink tanks. it also helps to have at least 5 weapon unlocks for BLM and melees. Also, if you get weapons fast enough you can even skip the entire 2nd floor except for the 2 lamia (if you port up to Qutrubs like we usually do).
Our main damage typically is 2 Riddil WAR + 1 MNK for Arrapago...works great.
We always kill a few Qutrubs, they go down fast and head + neck is hotness not just for melee but RDM with chapeau too...also usually have a spare melee or two..
We bring at least 1 THF if we can and give them one of the first weapons....I find it helps a great deal having TH3 on the first floor...don't see many lamia drop anything less than 2 cells like that..and qutrubs actually drop stuff..maybe I am too superstitious though
We do 6NM+boss pretty reliably with 8-9 people. With a single party you'd need to cut corners and get some drop luck I think.

Kinda works just like a main SAM for us for the fight except more damage?
Our tanks on chariots are Mnk/nin and Nin/War. Works well, though we dont kill in 10mins like some of you all (15-20 for most). A little slower fight and probably more controlled than some groups with a little more DD.
You specifically said "not boss runs". I won't argue against /SAM with Bravura for the bosses, but for just NMs or farming, Axe/Ridill should beat it.
Yeah I wasnt disagreeing at all. More of just extra info on how we use him on the chariots :D
Geez, are all of you like major HNM lses on your servers? My LS is made up of mostly decent-good 75 players. No relics or anything, and some people aren't exactly HNM level players. Do you think that a big part of how well you guys do is because you have relics and extremely well equipped players?
You don't need relics or uber equips...just a very good, tight group of players that know their jobs and know how to work with each other. Granted, for certain things (like the boss) you may need certain gearsets or specific pieces to pull off certain strategies, but generally, if the group is smart and well-balanced, and your strategy is solid, the gear just makes it easier.
Just be prepared to try unconventional strategies. Prime example, for our boss fights, my job as PLD/NIN is to mainheal the MNKs (tanking /NIN in Subtle Blow) while the WHMs mostly dedicate themselves to status curing and enfeebles. Conventional? No. Effective? Yep. The only effective strategy? No. If your members aren't the type who can handle something "different" then you'll fail.
don't listen to ferien! his group has at least one blackbelt, ridill, and relic! (although I'm pretty sure the ridill isn't coming war...)
anyway: yeah, the #1 thing with salvage is that you have people that know their jobs (not just their roles), can take direction - but don't stand around looking dumb if they aren't micromanaged, and work well as a group.
I'll take smart and capable players (regardless of hls experience) over hnm lootwhore chaff that happens to have good gear any day.
You don't need the best gear and the best weapons, but you do need decent gear and decent weapons.Originally Posted by Ryushii
Ultimately, you need good players. Players that understand their job class, their roles, and how to get the job done.
Shitty players fail at Salvage.
I suppose the problem I'm finding is that it is hard to keep good players interested when we have very few accomplishments. At the same time, the not-so-great players want the gear really badly and are very dedicated. We can't accomplish anything without consistent attendence, but we can't do much with just passable players either. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do...
how many players in your group?
if it's more than 10ish, consider shrinking the group - cut the players that aren't pulling their weight (you know which they are, and no. I don't mean the ones who are competent but not attending) and go with a smaller, tighter knit team.
you'll get the good players back, they want this gear too - they're just not as desperate that they'll keep going with whatever group will let them in.
