    Re: Star Ocean 1 & 2 Remake/Port for PSP

And the 10-Wisemen thing was pretty lame in explaination, but in experience it was pretty cool. Especially how they beat you down quite a few times. I remember thinking after that I couldn't beat them in the fight you're supposed to
I liked how exponentially tougher they were every fight. /cue to the 9999x20 damage (or something like that) . But I wasnt impressed by them as a whole. The introduction at the end of first CD kinda came out of nowhere, and you barely see any of them on 2nd CD, minus the part at the colliseum (maybe I forgot 1 encounter...been a while since I played). I kinda get the feeling the story writer made an awesome script, but realized there was no villains midway in the game

I was still impressed with the plot twist they pulled in SO3 despite the so-so execution. I didn't expect it, but I don't think it feel forced at same time. Seeing something unexpected is a rare thing nowaday when most story follow generic pattern.

Is it bad if I really liked SO3?

Assuming you played Valkyrie Profile 1 before that of course...
Stupid out of print games that I still want... And don't want to buy a PSP for just yet.

I didn't mind the SO3 plot twist so much. I did think renaming Lucifer to Luther was pretty lame though, even for an American localization.

Oh, and I think Opera is a bit of a letdown as a character. She has a great big gun and only fires it for special moves or flying targets! Meanwhile Ashton can match Claude's melee damage in the postgame, and he has a decent story of his own.

Wait, why are you talking about Opera? But what you said about her gun did make me rofl, I thought after all the trouble you go through to get her (and her fucking gimp boyfriend) she would at LEAST shoot stuff.

    lolyearite

She has got some pretty good moves by endgame though, she starts off pretty fail but ends up as an ok character, not the best but not the worst (lolnoel)

I forgot about the OP, considering you quoted me and didn't quote him as well it was...kinda confusing.

Ashton > Opera... well I just prefer Ashton ;\ Opera is more powerful due to spamming yeah... Chisato is pretty broken also with Tear Gas.

In the end... everyone hits for 9999... so it's just a matter of who has attacks that hit the most for 9999 and can be spammed ;3

Chisato breaks the game (and your ear drums) with 10,000 Volts as well.

Precis definately wins the owning your eardrums contst though. And her AI always decided to spam bloody mary and parabora beam (lolengrish) on CoT levels 1-6 until she ran out of mp.

And as for hitting 9999, that's only if you're gimp and don't use meteor ring/slayer ring. Multihit accessories decrease the base damage per hit, but also give more chances for dizzy and throw more stars with stuff like eternal sphere and whatever else throws stars, and usually give you time to throw out the next attack before the target can move. I think at 255 with Levantine/Farewell my Claude and Ashton were hitting 5 times per attack for 6k. So as far as I can tell the upper damage limit is pretty unreachable.

    Re: Star Ocean 1 & 2 Remake/Port for PSP AND future SO4

    bumping with new info

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread. ... 279&page=8

basic overview on top, scans a bit later in the page.

It's starting to look more promising =D

    for the lazy people:

Nowhere in this Star Ocean 4 interview does he say that SO4 is only for one platform. He says it's for "hardware that can display beautiful graphics," but beyond that it has not been decided. (He might be hoping for a moneyhat?)

    • The game "isn't that far off"
    • Specific details on SO4's release will be available by the time people are done playing the SO1 and SO2 remakes
    • In its current stage the battles are already playable, but full of placeholder elements
    • The story is done, and while he can't talk about its setting yet, there might be some surprises related to that at the TGS. But it won't be so different that characters from other games in the series won't be able to return.
    • He concedes that past Star Ocean games have not really felt like they were set in an ocean of stars. In this one you will be able to pilot a ship and travel to different worlds, and while it will retain fantasy elements, it will live up to the series' title more than the previous games in the series have.
    • The man and woman in the screenshot are the hero and heroine of the game. As a teaser they placed figures of them in the display at the SE party and he was disappointed that almost no one noticed.
    • The heroine's name is Reimi. The hero's name is... (cough) (sputter) EDGE MAVERICK! EDGE FRICKING MAVERICK! Bwahahaha! Seriously!
    • There aren't just two or three planets in the galaxy this time. There are more. Sounds like a lot more.
    • You can have four companions with you in battle this time. There are a lot of new elements and it doesn't really feel like the battle system of SO3.
    • Private Actions will, of course, return.

That's probably the concept behind his design...
Similar to the FF13 main character who they wanted to be a 'female version of Cloud'.

I don't know how I missed this thread.

I love Star Ocean 2 it's one of my favorite RPGs for sure. Is it possible to play PSP games on a PC so I don't have to buy one? <.< I bet the remake will kick ass.

Also SO3 wasn't that bad. I just don't think it had as much replay as SO2. Also Flying Guillotine was like 20x more broken then anything in SO2 and some of SO2's stuff was pretty overpowered. >.>
