House sure looks nicer, there are only 17 cutscenes for the whole game though. (One being the prologue and the other the opening)

Milly comment >.>
Anyway, after the game starts, the main feeling is that it feels just like SO2, hell, it even uses the same sound effects when you obtain items and stuff..

item creation shop i think, I kinda like ratix's new sprite <.< http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/ ... reen12.jpg
I experience a little bit of lag while moving around (especially near collisions) using a compressed image (895MB, update removed) but there is no lag with the original image (1.1gb, huge like fucking xbox, jtdc)
Anyway, they changed the beginning, you no longer fight bandits right after leaving the house, and Dorn wont let me leave town, and I've talked to everyone, and I have no clue where the hell I gotta go lol
So far the game looks really good and well-polished, no lag, just need to get into some battles now.
edit: Battles seem good so far, and it looks like all story-related event text is voiced. going through items during battle is still a bitch...
Bumpity. Apparently Star Ocean: The First Departure AND Second Evolution are dated for a NA release of September 30th.
NOPE has them listed on this date, so though my google skills aren't having any luck finding an official announcement from SE.
Not official yet afaik, that date was posted on gamefly or something a while back, that's where the rumor started.
I know they are coming out in NA, because an employee told me, but he couldn't give me an official release date.
SO4 on Xbox360 makes baby jesus cry. ;_;

You're like 3 weeks late, it's already mentioned in the SO4 thread 7 or so down.
Would love to have SO1 and 2 remakes as I haven't even played them at all. LE PSP's look indeed cool but I guess I'll stick with my 3 year old JP fatty PSP a little longer.
First Departure - October 21, 2008
Second Evolution - January 6, 2009.
Fuck
earlier october plz
First Departure is out in the US for those that missed it. For those that might have played one of the fan translations of SO1, pretty much everything is subtly renamed, from characters to skills.
Played it for a couple hours last night, until I noticed that Roddick (Ratix) didn't have Nimble Fingers (Dexterity in SO2), so restarted for the sake of pickpocketing goodness.
The english voice acting is pretty awful (ok alot awful), but it's somewhat enjoyable in the Tales of Eternia style. Ilia (Iria) is especially painful, she sounds like a 10 year old brat.
Story/character differences aside, if you played Star Ocean 2, you've played this. The crafting/combat/skills/etc are all pretty much taken directly from SO 2 and put into SO 1
Need to get the iso so I can attempt undubbing it ):
Picked up Second Evolution yesterday in anticipation of the latest Star Ocean for X-Box360. Almost half-way through what would be the first disc.
The voice acting is a nice touch but I'm still slowly adjusting to the new battlecries since I played the crap outta Star Ocean 2 when I was younger and got used to the original VAs (personally never had a problem with'em.) I'm mostly looking forward to how the 10 Wise Men sound though since they're so fun to fight imo.
Close to picking up the new secret character. Pretty curious as to how she plays.
Wait wait wait wait. SO2 is out for PSP now? Fuck I need this asap.
Yeah it almost slipped by me too. Haha.
