Anime Expo [AX] | Any News???

All I know from the AX ffxi booth was that they were selling FFXI for 3 bucks, had some shit FF based quiz, and when people were shown the SA animation 80% of the contestants said it was TA.

Just news from a friend who happen to be there at the time, mainly for the anime mind you .

It seemed to be just an advertisement jigg for SE it seems, and no I will not read those alla threads... I like my sanity where it's at.

Fanfest was so much fun. Especially dragging my nowhere near hardcore XI playing GF to it. Was awesome meeting people and she was like "Yeah, I've been playing for 8 months and have a 25WHM ^^"

E3 is a little over a week from now, why bother giving out important information at a convention when another one's right around the corner and is much more relevant?

Not really, unless they want to showcase something we haven't seen about the new expansion. It doesn't make much sense to waste space on FFXI updates on E3 when they could be using it to show off FFXIII and whatever else they're working on right now

Wouldn't be out of the question; SE gave away the full version of CoP for PC at Fanfest. I've got like 5 unused CoP CD keys now haha

E3 is a little over a week from now, why bother giving out important information at a convention when another one's right around the corner and is much more relevant?

Not really, unless they want to showcase something we haven't seen about the new expansion. It doesn't make much sense to waste space on FFXI updates on E3 when they could be using it to show off FFXIII and whatever else they're working on right now

Well the booth at the convention was in the merchant center. It wasn't anything like a developers panel. They were there promoting FFXI and selling the game and starter packs for the game. They gave away Vanadiel clocks, Alienware PC's, mousepads, PC FFXI, X-box FFXI, etc. I won 2 of everything except the computer >_<, but i may have felt greedy if i won the computer because I already won a computer they gave away before. The event coordinators who were there were beaming with joy though, after seeing how popular Final Fantasy was in cosplay and masquerade.

I asked them if they would be back next year because I have two FFXI costumes in the works for next year. I was told that they would see how well they did this year, and if
it was well enough to consider coming to AX 2008, they would definately come back.

As far as I know, they've never really given out info on FFXI at E3 that we didn't know already. Even back when ToAU and CoP were being released, they didn't release any new information.

I'm certain that this trend will continue, and in fact, unless there are some press passes going out to the FFXI Website owners (ZAM, a few others I can't remember), I'm going to predict that the presence of FFXI in this year's E3 will be smaller than ever. Especially considering the now closed nature of E3 (I'm not going to this year's E3 because of this. I am sad. ), there won't be a FFXI hoopla at this year's SE booth.

However, I am not discounting an interview that will knock our socks off, but I'm not holding my breath on that happening.

dont be so sure. they are pumping out a lot of FF games since its FF's 20th anniversery. so i'm sure it will have a small showing especially sinces supposed to be out in winter.

E3 wasn't as closed before as it is now though. That's why I'm saying that, they're not gonna put anything up there other than the stuff they want the media to broadcast all over the place, like announcements on what new games they're making right now or how progress is going on what they haven't show much of yet (FF13, maybe that tactics 2 game...stuff like that). If they got something directed more towards players than the media, it would make more sense to hold on to it until E4all where the players will actually be there to see it

They're also adding the ability for everyone to simply buy a CD key for the expansions via POL, apparently. Pikko, one of the few things about ZAM that does not suck got some interview time in with S-E at the Expo.
