This could be said a million times for a million things people think Blizzard created with WoW.

I've been awaiting this for awhile, I'm happy it turned out pretty. Hopefully they do more and people come to start using it. I tried to get my LS to use it, but that failed.

The site itself is practically a "Dynamis Calendar", as "public" events are listed on the front page. So if everyone didn't go like "HAY LETS HAVE A MEETING IN HEAVEN'S TOWER" in public events and only Dynamis LSes did it, then you have your calendar.

It would be retarded for them to have a website which directly accesses the game db server/servers imho... Wouldn't that lead to numerous ways for people to DOS the Database server?... this impacting the game directly.

I can see them doing hourly db queries to update the Community db or something.

It's pretty common to have caching and/or mirroring to prevent web access from raping your backend servers.

wow's profile system works by uploading your profile to the web site that hosts the profiler when you log out. The game servers don't ever get queried.

its handy that you can view profiles without even logging in, as long as you set that option on your profile.
it is, however, probably a good idea that the default is must-be-logged-in
