I don't see how you got SE to talk to you about an account that isn't yours, and one of which any information was changed, especially the CC number. Every other topic I've ever read on the situation pretty much all stated that if any of the info they ask for is wrong you're kinda boned.

And from what I understand, Jen's stole your account and then sold it to someone else right away after stripping it of gil/gear. The second person is who's RL info you have, as they were the ones with the account when you got it back. So how exactly did you get Jen's personal information? SE gave it to you?

Is the whole police/fbi/blah blah thing involved only because there was a trojon or something on Stocky's computer, or could all accounts stolen from just knowing info/pw be brought back on the thief the same way? As far as I know from randomly checking my information the full credit card info isn't shown in pol anywhere. Just the card type and last 4. Correct? I don't think just knowing someone's names/address would be enough for charges, but I'm no law expert in any way.

There was other stuff but I'm tired right now, might remember it later.

2) You didn't read the posts carefully i assume. We are in touch with the second person, SE and the local authorities to sort this problem out, and SE has agreed to provide the data to the local authorities in the matter of an investigation, which automatically gets us to personal data of Jens.

3) SE has the full CC data, just they reserve their rights not to unleash it until anything serious happens, like this. (You submit the full credit card details to register with the game- not only the 4 first and 4 last) and according to Data Privacy Laws (Data Protection Act) unauthorized entry to someone else's private data and using for their own good is a crime if it is proven, which we can prove easily.

I use cheats on platform games occasionally, never on online games. unless youre talking exclusively for online, I guess you'd be more susceptible, but you cant really say everyone will cheat all the time every time.

'Johnny cheats all the time when he plays games'
and
'Johnny downloaded a cheat for an MMO'

While it's wrong to make the conclusion that everyone who cheats in an offline game cheats in an MMO, believing that someone who cheats in games cheats in another isn't that great a shock.

Why do people cheat in offline games anyway? Seriously, what's the fucking point? So you can say you beat it? Who are you going to tell that will be impressed, or even give the slightest of a damn? Just don't play the game if it's so hard you can't beat it or if you don't have the time. Imo, cheating in even an offline game is an example of unusual enough behavior to believe that the same person would/could cheat in an MMO.

Maybe. It certainly takes a much bigger douchebag to cheat in a multiplayer game or an MMO. It's not totally different, it's a matter of degree. It's also, again, not that great a logical leap to believe a cheater can become a massive asshole cheater.

How the trojan got on was and still is a mystery to me, only things I downloaded 1 week before I got hacked were a battlefield 2142 crack, and a cheat thingy for it (I was on holiday with my girlfriend at the time, so could only play on my laptop when she was in bed in the morning or when she'd gone to bed in the evening etc), hence I didn't play on FFXI at all really..jumped on to say hi I think twice and checked my sales a few times, that's it.

A cheat is a cheat is a cheat. Aimbots, POSHacks, they're all memhacks. You can't say that cheating in an MMO is different from a singleplayer game because it's not. That's the same concept as saying lying to your family is different from lying to your friends. Sure the effects and consequences are different... but you're still a liar.

Yet alone, the data privacy act is not handled by local authorities as majority of large police forces do have a computer crime unit, but its used mostly for child predators. Even with child predators, 90% of the operations are handled by various US Government agencies (mostly FBI).
