NICE!!! tribes 2 was the shit, getting everyone on the aircraft and taking them off the map lol, then crashing the craft at enemy base while everyone is still in(i sure pissed alot of players off). oh and from the looks of it i think you guys convinced joft to stop playing and stop reading his post all together VERY NICE.Originally Posted by joft
WoW can be pretty addictive as well, I just got bored with it at around level 40 and quit though.
If you already quit the MMO scene I wouldn't recommend coming back as attractive as it may seem, just because it'll consume you all over again (Which is the reason I deleted my all my r/ex items when I quit FFXI..)
I go up there every now and then. Know some friends that go there.Originally Posted by joft
Play Diablo 2 Hardcore mode!!
It is making a comeback lol
But seriously, talk about a game you can pretty much play anytime and walk away from anytime, D2 is perfect for someone with a busy life.
Even better, when your HC character at level 60+ dies, you'll want to quit anyway so you know you won't get hooked.
I've never played but, from hearing about it I'd want to break shit lolOriginally Posted by Keltiks
Actually the typical reaction I think most high level hardcore players experience is to just sit there probably for at least 5-10 minutes with a dumbfounded stupid can't believe its true look on your face. Then slowly over the next 20 minutes reality sets in and then you want to break shit. Thats what I went through last night.Originally Posted by MF Perm

Speaking as someone who played both FFXI and then WoW and then semi coming back to FFXI, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
If you really want a game to play in your spare time stay the hell away from mmo's, they just rape any time you have. Get back into consoles or something but if I ever broke away from stuff I would definitely never try to play a mmo 'casually' because I really don't see how it's possible.Originally Posted by Setsuko

Yes, WoW doesn't demand like FFXI does. But either one sucks on your social life like a vampire.
Depending on your guild, WoW can be just as or even more demanding/hardcore as FFXI. From 1-70, you can definitely go at your own leisurely pace but after that, shit can get hectic.
Of the people who say that you spend less money on entertainment since they play MMOs, do you count in the increase on your electricity bill from when you started playing each month?![]()
RUN BITCH, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
I wouldn't consider sitting in dragons aery for 3 hours waiting for mr. argus to cast dia for me on fafnir to be very demanding, or for those of you who don't bot, spamming dia from the menu screen. There isnt' even a real strategy to the fight. I never had to farm consumables or watch tons of videos to learn how to cast elegy on fafnir. I'm not trying to bash FF; I did enjoy it for the first year or so.Originally Posted by Kyreth
Maybe WoW isn't demanding if you've never been in a guild that tried to progress to Illidan. For the rest of us who are doing end-game, I spend 1-2 hours farming herbs for pots, an hour doing nothing but fish for food, and 5-7 hours a night concentrating on keeping 24 other people alive with a 15 min break some where in between.
oshit WSVG MATCH STARTING
You honestly don't have to camp Kings to be "geared" in FFXI. That was true a long time ago, but with CoP and ToAU, there is so much "end-game" content that doesn't involve standing there botting. You'll only be missing out on Black Belt(which you can do KSNM99s for... maybe buy them or have a friend let you lot them), Ridil, DRing, and Herald's. If you can survive losing 1 or 2% on that parse from using a Haub+1 or Azkar body instead of Ebody, it really isn't so bad. Or just level BLM and be able to have the best gear in the game save Herald's without camping anything(cept for a Mold earring of course!). Maybe SE will adjust Einherjar so that it is worth it... then you're really just dealing the examples I listed.
You will still probably waste huges amount of time.

Unless your a strong willed person youll find yourself wasting a lot of time suddenly haha.
