COR macros are quickly overtaking my annoyance at shitty Utsusemi and Last Resort /p macros. Every now and then you get one who just does their job quietly though and it's so nice.
There have been times while leveling PLD where I wanted to swap a song for Ballad briefly to regain MP, but I didn't want to ask for it because I only needed that a few times an hour at most. (Note: pre-Pianissimo) Niche situation, but it's the one time I've been grateful for /p macros because I have a tendency to not move in time to catch the song otherwise.
Ok, I know that Summoner burning is destroying this game, but this is funny nonetheless. Did you know that all 2hr's are linked?
Spoiler for big chat log...
Spoiler: show
(to avoid being bashed, I have leveled all of my jobs minus smn, which is used to merit at this point)
Wish people would stop saying this, it's the most retarded logic ever. Stupid people are going to suck balls at 75 regardless of how they get there, and smart people are going to play their jobs well at 75 without needing to spend countless hours auto-engaging Colibri in order to level them.
Except that the person auto-engaging for countless hours will have more experience, and thus, be initially better than that other SMN Burn player (Assuming both are giving the same effort). Like it or not, some classes have learning curves, and the time you take to adjust is the time you look like a noob at 75.
The game has almost 0 learning curve 50-75. Just look at the Gimp/Confused/WTF thread, 90% of those people have atleast 1 75 and have 0 ideas on how to play the game. Pretty much leveling 1 job to 75 or reading lolotherwiki you can learn enough about other jobs to be more competent than most people still.
Maybe for DDs who dully play their classes (Aka DDs that don't learn how to tank effectively), but for mages and serious DDs, there is one. In fact, if you play SCH, it's most apparent since you constantly tweak your macros and have to adjust between healing/nuking solo/nuking in PT setting.
If I were suggesting that people who XP the "normal" way were better players, I would have said just that. Since I did not, this isn't a viable defense. More specifically, I asserted that XPing the "normal" way provides you with the benefit of experience prior to reaching 75. When you consider two players where the only difference between them is their means of XPing (SMN Burn v "Normal" way), the person who XPed the "normal" way is at an advantage since he has experience.Just look at the Gimp/Confused/WTF thread, 90% of those people have atleast 1 75 and have 0 ideas on how to play the game.
Quite possibly; but I would be wary of the guides that the other wiki has to offer. Actually, in general I would stay away from most guides that have the potential to be outdated.Pretty much leveling 1 job to 75 or reading lolotherwiki you can learn enough about other jobs to be more competent than most people still.
I gotta agree with this one, it's...really not that hard. The only jobs I can think of that are weak at 75 player experience wise without grinding colibri a million hours are WHM and RDM, and NIN and PLD. Anything else honestly is pretty easy to get the swing of, especially if you've been watching others in your ls or parties do it for years.
My default question for anyone delusional enough to believe that the 1-75 grind matters: what about paladin, ninja, monk, red mage, summoner, blue mage, beastmaster, bard, black mage, dancer, and puppetmaster? Half of those jobs learn -nothing- about their end-game roles in parties, and the other half drop a large part of what their in-party contributions were when they step out onto the HNM scene.
I haven't personally leveled most of the jobs in XI, but I'm absolutely certain that I could pick up any of them at 75 and play them better than a vast majority of the playerbase. Would you like to know why? Its because I'm not a fucking idiot.
Go away.
- NIN can learn to blink tank and cancel shadows/use hate tools
- RDM can learn to do Haste orders and Refresh orders (Some STILL need practice at this)
- BLU can learn about MP conservation
- BRDs learn they can't just sit back and sing/respawn orders/how to fucking use Pianissimo
- BLMs get solo experience that make them better in non-PT situations or manaburn experience which could be their only role at 75
- PUP learn lolPUP and how to make PTs
- SMN see PUP and add BPs
- BST see PUP and add wild Pikachu
He said 75, not specifically EG. Being able to merit effectively is an important part of playing as a LV75 character.Half of those jobs learn -nothing- about their end-game roles in parties,
Unless he specifically meant Colibris, I would say you're incredibly misinformed if you believe this. When leveling SCH, I made sure to experience every role that SCH can be in: Healing, nuking in groups, nuking solo. As someone coming from a melee > melee/mage > mage perspective, I can easily point out that learning curves exist with some classes. One of the biggest issues that many of you seem to forget is macro familiarity. For melee classes, it might not be as vital since you're typically in a group situation, but as a BLM or SCH, knowing your macros well and training to go over them is crucial to some aspects of soloing.and the other half drop a large part of what their in-party contributions were when they step out onto the HNM scene.
My question for anyone delusional to suggest that "XPing in a normal setting matters" equals "XPing in a normal setting determines your performance" is what the hell are you smoking? Proper gear choices and knowing your role is irrelevant of the point I'm making since it impacts neither of these. What I've been stressing over the past few posts that almost no one seems to understand is that experience makes you a better player than you would be w/o said experience. Hence, why I mentioned two players of equal standing where one has the experience and other does not. If I were suggesting that people who PT the normal way are better than those who don't, I would have said that plain and clear by now. However, that is not the point I was making.I haven't personally leveled most of the jobs in XI, but I'm absolutely certain that I could pick up any of them at 75 and play them better than a vast majority of the playerbase. Would you like to know why? Its because I'm not a fucking idiot.
You're backpedaling your way through a massive heap of semantics.
Hand me a level 75 <job> account, or make me start it from level 1 - I'm going to play it exactly the same way.
I think there is a difference between:
A new player to the game getting SB from level 1-75 vs Taking the time to level to 1-75
and
A current level 75 starting a new job getting SB from level 1-75 vs Taking the time to level to 1-75.
New player needs to learn everything.
Experienced player needs to learn the job but knows game basics to advanced macroing.
Uhh, no. An intelligent human being needs five minutes in-game to set up some macros and the Wiki to master a class.
