    Computer Problem >_<

So I just built a new computer, installed windows XP pro yesterday. Problem is my computer just keeps restarting at random times. Not sure why at all. I have 2 fans in the case along with the fan right on the CPU. Anyone have any suggestions? Only thing I can think of is the power supply, since im using the one that came with the case. But my friend has the same case/power suppy and his works fine.

It is either IRQ-problems with the Un-Interruptible-Power-Supply or you could check to see if the CPU needs bearings repacked.

Ya that happens sometimes, too much surge protection doesn't help either since each surge protector you use actually draws power so try taking a few of them out.

You're probably running more fans than he does, try taking the big ones out.

Actually I think im running one less then he is. Case came with 2 built in ones on the side and top, he bought a 20mm fan(I think it was 20mm) for the back of his computer and I didnt.

Yeah I closed the window then put the CD back in and didnt get the error. Downloading the entire client now from Worldofwarcraft.com so I dont have to monkey around with the discs.

Anyone here ever had problems with BC installation? It's such a fucked up installer. It goes in and alters all your files in your WoW directory, and if something happens during installation then your boned to fuck and have to reinstall EVERYTHING. Ive tried installing it a few times now, last night my computer as shutting off around the 2nd disc so I gave up, today I tried to install and it hung up and crashed on the 3rd disc and I had to uninstall all of WoW again.

The random rebooting problem for my computer seems to be gone though, not really sure what was causing it or why it was happening. Guess ill have to wait and see if it starts up again tonight.

Well computer started rebooting again, I pulled out my old tower and using it for now. Me and my friend were monitoring the CPU and case temps and my CPU was pushing 40degrees celsius. The fan wasnt even programmed to turn on until it reached like 60degrees.

I had a virus scanner running when I was installing wow and it gave me the min. cpu error, but I just did install anyway and it was fine.

My graphics card runs at around 80-85 degrees celcius when running FFXI...

Curious, does it just restart at random or does it restart when you are running certain apps?

Seems to restart when im installing WoW Burning Crusade, Downloading the client for WoW from blizzards site, and running Kraspersky computer can. Besides those times it's rebooted at random about 5 or 6 times.

Your graphics card runs at 80 but what is your CPU at? And is that celsius or farenheit? I looked up a troubleshooting guide online and it gave me a few reasons for a computer to reboot.

    1)CPU too hot
2)A virus (I doubt it's a virus since I havnt run anything other then a few clean programs and reading this forum)
3)Power suppy, my power supply is a 450watt power supply so that should be enough

Yeah it runs at 80C while running FFXI and the CPU runs about 65-79C

This is on a ATI Radeon X850XT Platinum PCI-E @256mb
CPU is Pentium 4 EE @3.46 GHz

FFXI runs... pretty much all day and it doesn't restart unless Windows update decides it's time.

Does the computer restart while in the new tower or are you having the same issue?

It's not in a new tower, just using my old computer right now. Here's what I have

    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6813128018

    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6814195030

    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6819115013

The video card isnt here yet, running a 256 PCI ATI one while I wait. I also just ordered a 120mm fan incase it's the heating problem

There was something I noticed so I will just ask:

Do you have a sound card installed?
