Solo RDM @75 for buffer/merits

Any thoughts? Go to Mt. Z and pretend you're a BLM? Go somewhere else and pretend you're a BLM? Pretend you're a melee? Not even worth it? Obviously not gonna beat 20k/hr+ meripo, but sometimes you're just not in the mood.

Try a duo with a JP BLM? RDM can solo in MountZ like a BLM. Hell, you could go RDM/SMN to help with down time .... maybe.

Go to beadeaux and kill EP-DC turtles? might not be much but the freebies (scrolls, seals, lolgil, lolCP) stack after a while.

I really don't see how a RDM can expect to solo merit/xp effectively. A RDM can solo practically anything that is able to be soloed, but they never were able to do it quickly, which is the name of the game when it comes to meriting. Can you solo Wamoras via nuking? Sure, but you're going to need most of your MP pool if not more to do it. Can you solo via melee? Sure, but it's going to take a long time because of a lack of true DD gear and high damage weaponskills. I always thought of RDM soloing to be more of "I can outlast any mob" effort more than "I'm going to kill this quickly before it hurts me" like a BLM or Melee and therefore it just doesn't strike me as a job that can get merits or buffer by itself.

Long story short, I don't think a RDM can solo any respectable amount of xp. If you have a BLM friend though, duoing aerns in sea is a nice way to get a solid 5k/hour. And you can try to pop DRK/DRG Ix or farm MNK Ix organs at the same time.

Trying to solo for XP/merits will suck, but just soloing for fun does not. I have to agree with Tajin, solo EP/DCs when you feel like getting some XP and not dealing with people for some bonus items, seals, and a nice smattering of XP. You'll never win for speed kills, but at least you know you can relax because you will survive a link or two. (Or three or four.)

I usually go wandering wherever I can find EP's and farm. Serious exp? Nah.

Though parking yourself outside of Al Zahbi and slaughtering spiders/colibri is low risk and gives you a pile of stuff to easily sell + seals.

You could solo Marids, though it's lots easier going BLM/RDM than RDM/BLM.

like others have said, it's just not going to work. tier 3 spells just won't put out enough damage to kill things quick enough for decent exp. most vt mobs will require a convert to kill without resting.

you could do that solo rdm enm though, it's pretty easy and iirc it gives some exp.

Bingo, Fire in the sky + Riverne scroll + Sacrarium (which is not in the way but is easy to do) nets you some nice xp. You can even get some bored NIN and you can do fire in the sky, scrolls + Mammet.

Solo'ing on RDM absolutely sucks for exp purposes like already mentioned, you will literally be solo'ing at the rate a BLM does with a 1/4 ratio or so in terms of how much exp you are getting compared to a BLM solo'ing that same mob...your best bet is just to go to Mount Zhayolm and solo there until a solo/duo/trio/etc of BLMs get there and you can tag along with them if they let you. But honestly, if you are hard pressed to get some exp on RDM, just look for a merit PT.

If you don't care about xp/hr, pretend you're a BLM in sea. Phuabo are squishy, sleep easily, and are aspirable. You can probably pull 3k/hr there solo. Convert recast merits will be the best help there to reduce down time. Like I said...only if you don't care about xp/hr. It's decent if you need organs in the meantime. Aerns aren't as cooperative as sharkies.

Mt. Z works too. It's possible to solo the flying mothra bringers of doom, but it's certainly not a pretty sight...

I tend to do the usual Lesser Colibri melee thing outside of Whitegate when I'm bored and looking for some easy xp. Not going to make a lot in a short time or get many money drops but with RDM buffs you can pretty much go afk 1/2 the time. Could try the Colibri or Puks further up for more of a challenge too.

I also tend to do Marids when I'm in more of a Nuking mood. Takes around a pool or two of my Hume mp pool to down one (but then again my Nuke gear is pretty shitty) and the 200-300xp from the Marid + 30-70xp from Chigoe pops adds up over time. Only thing that can go really go wrong is that shitty Barrier Tusk TP move they have that ups their M.Def by ridiculous amounts. Even with merited Enfeebling+Gear you'll still get resists on sleep. Add in Gravity wearing at the same time and a Chigoe chasing you and you've got quite the headache on your hands.

Solo wise the Marids are also better than Wamoura for RDM imo, they just seem squishier. If you have a BLM friend who's out for a mellow xp session you can always Duo Aura Statues. Steady 200-300xp a Statue and a Chance at Diorite if you're in a LS that does Sky. Get a third BLM in and you can get some Chain 3-4 in there.

I tend to pretend I'm a melee when I have time to kill between LS events or I'm just bored, and pretend to be a BLM when I want xp without the Merit hassle.

XP Ring + Sanction + Mt. Z solo. You're not getting chain 5 solo, but you can pull Chain 2 if you have a decent nuking setup.

Alternatively: Find a BLM or two who want Ix'MNK cape, and go kill Aerns for pop items. Or try and pop Ix'DRK. It's not super fast, but if this is "I don't want an XP PT just relax and build my buffer a bit" it works fine, easy Chain 4-5, especially if you hunt areas with mage Aerns. Most of the time you'll never have any competition for mobs, and you'll get pop items/pop an Ix and maybe get a cape

Yep, like others mentioned, go farm ks by killing beastmen, w/e is your taste, next thing you know you'll have a decent amount of xp. Obviously take /drk for the biggest bang (see if you can beat my highest vorpal for 1001 +-1 of damage vs a darksteel quadav in dome). You can plan in advance and shit, and take advantage of the xp ring 2x on a single day ;o
