Vista and FFXI

Just installed Vista Ultimate and I tried installing FFXI.

After installing all 4000 CD's I tried running POL and said that POL couldn't open, and then I tried clicking FFXI and FFXI Config and I got the same message.

Can Vista run FFXI? Did I just fuck something up and I need to reinstall FF?

There's a MASSIVE thread on FFXI and Windows Vista on the Windower forum. I'd like to it but it's blocked at work. It's not hard to find though...

Hmm well it's a good thing I don't really play anymore. I hop on a friends account every once in a while, but it's still his so I don't do much.

I have a lot of issues with Vista anyways.... I can't play Diablo 2 or SoF2, so fuck Vista in the asshole. i don't know how they could have screwed it up so bad, it's not like they even changed too much stuff. I got my copy of ultimate from a friend who works at intel, and while it's cool he saved me some cash, I'll yell at him for not making it better

Yeah because Intel make Windows. Everyone should just use Windows XP Pro untill Vista SP 2 or 3 is out. You'll get more out of your hardware with it anyway.

Actually that's all he does.... works on windows......dead serious..... nice try, though.

And I'm running a Macbook Pro, so it doesn't really matter to me that shit doesn't work, it's more of a novelty. I run OSX most of the time anyways.

I grew up building PC's, only bought a mac last year. Not a snob, just sick of Microsoft, and I love the apple laptops.

I'm not sure what problems you have experienced or heard ppl experience, but if you have a lick of computer knowledge and understand what the major changes that were made in Vista you will have no problems, especially now that SE ninja fixed the occasional lockup upon character selection.

I've been running ffxi on vista ultimate since a week after vista was released (not by choice btw, work insisted on getting our laptops with it) with no issues really.
