New RAM, but problems

How many beeps did you hear from the mobo? What mobo (so I can check what that # of beeps means)?
If anything, I'm thinking the RAM voltage might not be supported by the mobo.

Not sure if you're still having the issue with your RAM but it looks like your motherboard doesn't support the RAM you bought.

You got the PC2 - 6400 when your PC only supports PC2 - 5300 or PC2 - 4200.

I would return them and get these :

It's the same brand and everything of the ones you got but these are the PC2 - 5300 sticks.

I got my return forms from newegg and i'm sending the old ram back. Are you certain these will work with my motherboard or are you just taking a guess? I dont have the books for my pc anymore so i dont know how i go about finding what ram is compatable with mine, but if those you linked to are, then i'll get them.

I got the basic specs at cnet.com. Here's the link:

The review for Cnet says that only 4200 is compatible but I saw on a couple other sites that you could use 5300 as well.

I'll find them and post those as well.

**Edit. If you want to be 100% sure of what kind you need, just look on your old ram. It should tell you what kind it is on the label.

It stands for the transfer rate/bandwidth of the stick of RAM. PC2-4200 allows for 4.2 GB/s (plus or minus)

Just got the new RAM and it works great! Only question i have is when i right click My Computer and go to properties, it says i have 1.87 gig. Why not 2? Not that i'm complaining, cause this is jesus now. Thanks so much Vertabreaker and Shuemue for your help! :D

You probably have a PCI-E video card that uses some memory on the card, but also ganks some of your main memory to run faster. Chances are, 128mb or so is actually there physically, just Windows won't report it because it's tied up in video.
