Imagine trying to concise a 800 or 900 page book is it? into just over 2 hours of film. It'd be nearly impossible. That said I thought the movie flowed well and while there are some questions not enough to make the movie un-enjoyable. There are some things I could have done without, like hagred's brother, but for the most part i thought it was an entertaining movie.
It would be exciting to see things like this with extended versions like the LoTR's that had theatrical and extended versions, but this would be like a 6 hour movie if they really went into depth and covered everything. Not that i'd be opposed to that, i love long movies and i guess would be in the minority of people who would sit through a 6 hour movie.
