Chocobo Raising: Can you learn ability after Day 63

Hi all. My chocobo has 8/8/1/1, and I am trying to raise discernment to learn gallop canter. However, it is now day 51, and I will pass day 63 before I can get discernment to a bit deficient/average to learn ability. The question I want to ask is if you can still learn abilities from telling stories after day 63? I can still boost discernment with 80bucks upgrade after day 63, but if story telling won't work again, there is no point. Thank you for your advise! =)

Yes you can.

My chocobo learned Canter (unusually focused) about day 110.
