I just ripped off some RMT on a tele

RMT have GM'd a bunch of people on Asura for MPKing them at Tiamat with Xolotl/Alastor.

If you are gonna do something to gilsellers that can result in a ban, don't provide any chat evidence if you can. When I dragged Ancient Goobbue to kill the Goobbue farmers out of frustration, I didn't say anything in LS, tells or chat. Killed them (and I think I accidentally got some skill up party that pulled it). Logged off, made a post on my ls forum for lulz. Came back, nothing happened, gilsellers sent me a tell saying "M P K". I responded innocently with "are you threatening me with MPK?" They left me alone after that. Haven't been reprimanded either by any GMs.

I have a feeling anyone that gets jailed from the GM for mpking gilsellers is most likely bragging about it all over their chat logs.

This has been my experience as well, it seems as though the only logging the game does at all is what all of us can see in the chat log, so if a GM needs to go back and look something over, they only have access to the same things you do. So if you don't say anything about MPKing, or any chat that implies it, there's no evidence that looks any different from them just getting aggro.

Back in the golden days of BST I used to spend large chunks of my days just MPKing gilsellers. In fact, I did this so often that the RMT exp parties would recognize me, and actually stop pulling if they saw me, because they knew they'd have about 5 links if they started fighting anything. I got constant GM call threats from them, but I was always careful not to say anything in-game, and I never even had a GM talk to me once. I don't know how many of them actually called, but I'd assume at least some did.

It seems the same recently, I know a couple weeks ago me and my girlfriend were going to Dragon's Aery and came across a group of RMT leveling in Boyahda. They had a BST that would go out and charm a mob, and bring it back to a group of 5 taru BLMs, then release their pet and a BLM would sleep it before it could depop. Once they had 4 or so mobs built up, they'd sleepnuke them with -ga spells. Looked to be working ok for them, but it seems they didn't really have a backup plan if somehow their group of mobs got hit with Diaga. A couple of minutes later, an LS member that was a little behind us said on LS, "lol a bunch of dead taru BLMs here", and I said something like "yeah, guess it's dangerous to level without a tank", but that was the only mention in game. She got the usual angry tells from the RMTs, but no GM.

I know it's tempting to brag about MPKing or ripping off gilsellers, but in my experience a GM won't do anything at all unless there's some sort of damning chat evidence.

that's fascinating, but also has immense potential for exploitation. it's been seen more times than i can count that CGF's command of the English language is...wanting, but many of ours is not. would it be possible to exploit it if say, when a cgf says "MPK" as someone above said, you state back in the same chat channel, "why did you train ancient goobue on me?" making yourself out to be the victim in this crime? if the only records they have are chatlogs and not death logs or w/e, you could craft an entire story weaving in their shoddy replies, lodge a GM call yourself, and convince them to read your engineered conversation in the way you designed. by that token, not only do you get to MPK them scott free, but you might even get them suspended/banned for something you did to them!

To the above: Probably not. You could compare chat logs and see who engaged what first, actions done on mobs and what not. It also has a lot to do with multiple people mpk'ing or a single person. When I drag Aquarius upstairs and see gilfsellers fighting... I resist the massive 12k gil(i think?) he drops for a chance to kill some gilsllers. If I'm in the middle of LS chat I sometimes will say "oops I agroed aquarius, logging out hate so he doesn't eat me". As long as you don't say something like "man i pwned those gilsellers, imma gonna do it again, down with gilsellers! wwwwwwww ˆˆ, brb windowing out to bg so I can post these screenshots" I think you'll be ok.

edit: I mean if muliptle people are commiting the mpk. Like an entire LS trying to get Fafnir to flail, versus an innocent BST trying to escape death by sacrificing a pet that happens to be near an alliance.

Like Solsovly says, it would be pretty easy to make the chat look bad for them, but hard to make the actions match up with it. It'd have to be a pretty complex manuever to make them say the right things at the right time, and would probably involve getting yourself killed by the same thing you trained on them earlier.

Writing my earlier post reminded me of one particularly notable time in Kuftal Tunnel that I took a screenshot of. I had just killed an RMT NIN, who then had to lay around for quite a while waiting on one of their mages to come to raise him. I made it difficult for a while, keeping aggro mobs on top of his body, but eventually I gave him a bit too much space and he got up and the mage got sneak on him. Got all the typical angry tells, GM call threats, etc. As usual, didn't respond at all, didn't think much of it, but the mage was keeping sneak on him so there wasn't anything I could do at the moment. I started farming spiders around them while I waited for him to start fighting something, and after about 15 minutes he starts freaking out at me again:

Those were shouts, but there were a whole bunch of tells along the same lines as well. My guess at that point was that he had actually called a GM, the GM had looked at the log and not been able to see anything other than someone aggroing a few too many crabs, but had told him that he'd stay to watch me for a few minutes. I responded to his tells saying that I didn't know what he was talking about, and just kept farming spiders for a while. A GM never contacted me, and he shut up after a few minutes, but it seemed pretty clear that he needed me to do something right now for the GM to be able to do anything. That incident really clinched it for me that the GMs didn't have some sort of magic "show me what happened here 20 minutes ago" tool or anything like that.

To go along with the random mpking with Bonze Marberry I was talking about earlier, me and a friend would sometimes team up to camp Sozu. After I had killed their only ninja, and they were already thoroughly angry at me, they tried to get their WHM to Raise III the ninja. Every time they would go to cast the spell, my friend on whm would start casting raise I, and every time, for about 25mins or so, (maybe once or twice per min.) they would stop about halfway through their cast and swear at us or say something I couldn't understand. Eventually, they did call a GM, and about a half hour after it started the GM ordered my friend to stop casting raise on the dead ninja.

We were trio-ing it with two BSTs and a SMN, and killing slow like two BSTs and a SMN do...and they offered help, lol.

rmt wiped at 12% to Faust, we got claim at 3% (provoked, Thunder IV and Thunder III to claim) and finished it. Best part was killing their only alive mage with typhoon after we had claim.
