Anyone ever had Microsoft fix their console before? I sent mine in after it stopped reading discs but gave no error for repair around July 10th or so, and was tracking its progress on the Xbox website.
It showed the status as having arrived at the service center, stayed as that for a while, and now has "no pending repair" as the status. So I guess that means they fixed it and are sending it back? Anyone else have a timeframe for how long they usually take to fix systems?
A friend of mine sent his in about a month ago and just received it a few days ago. They didn't repair his but sent him a new one, manufactured July 7th 07, and gave him a free month of live too lol.
It's not new... but it's probably some other person's 360, refurbrished, with the new chip.
So with refurbs they slap on a new manufacturer's date on it?
Probably? This is the first I hear on M$ sending a NEW console, so I was assuming they were all refurbrished, but it's likely that they're just changing the cover and sticking a new manufacturing date on it so it doesn't look scratched etc.
Yeah, I heard they just sent out refurbs too but he says it's brand new. No scratches, new plastic cover on the tray, power button and it looks sparkling new. It may be a refurb but looks damn good. He won't open it up to see if there's a new heatsink or any changes lest he lose his warranty.
They usually change the outside appearance to make it look new so you don't bitch and moan that they sent you someone else's 360... but yeah, how long did it take them to send it back? It almost seems better to just get a warranty from the store you bought it from and just replace it for a new one when and if you get the RRoD.
When you send your 360 in, they tell you to remove any personal items from it, stickers, etc, and to keep your hard-drive at home, specifically because theres a good chance you won't be seeing -your- 360 again.Originally Posted by Exoduso
