SANTA MONICA, Calif.--For game publishers at E3 showing off massively multiplayer online role-playing games, the message was clear: this year, they want to get big.

Not a single mention about FFXI. Surprised!

Technicaly, considering they're talking about making MMOs mainstream, FFXI wouldn't be the best example of that.

    That's why I don't get it.

FFXI is at least the third most popular (pay, at least) MMO outside China/bad Asia/etc, though I could have lost track. It belongs to one THE top names in videogames, and from my little knowledge of what happened at E3 was the only MMORPG game to get any real spotlight and release information.

So many people have quit FFXI that I don't think they care anymore.

Whether or not that's true, the market audience is mainly made up of those who haven't played yet.

And it is odd it wasn't mentioned, given that MMOs like FFXI and WoW and such are mainstream. The FF series, especially.

And yet, it's still one of the top MMORPGs in the world. I know some people can be like 'baww, FFXI sucks, I played it', but that's an opinion, I'm talking facts. It doesn't make any sense.

If people on FFXI did crazy things as wow people apparently did I'd assume it would be on the news a lot.

Jesus H Fucking Christ...that kind of thing should be a joke and nothing more...but it came true.. so the world should end shortly...only thing we are missing now... for myth of MMO's to be busted is the South Park syndrome...waiting till the day you see a guy dead in front of his computer screen jacking off to his toon female blood elf, while shit is dripping from his chair....that will truly end MMO's forever and the world too...
