Too bad SE is being so tight lipped about everything, though I guess not unexpected. Doesn't seem like much info was added by any of these recent interviews...

I dunno, isn't that hard to read between the lines. Take the AFv2 thing for example.
They've made it pretty clear they wont add TOA job Relic armor before WotG comes out, but the WOG jobs will need Relics too. That means that instead of giving TOA Relic their own event or slap it on an existing battle system, they'll probably take TOA Relic and the WOG Relic and put them in one new event.
Someone earlier asked for a post to the 2006 TGS interview to see about AV "hints" being leaked. I dug it up, didn't find jack shit except what they said. And we already know about it. I think Ogawa-san must have had a case of the "wut?" from Sundi. Anyways, heres the link:

Maybe when he says using "elemental based attacks corresponding to the day" he means using Earth Crusher on Earthsday with Hope Staff will shut down Manafont and Astral Flow? XD
Since Wings is coming what this Sept, and we still dont even know what teh jobs are... does anyone remember how soon BEFORE the release of ToAU did they reveal all 3 jobs? I know they announced Blu then cor then pup. But i cant remember how long before the release they did. For some reason it feels WAY sooner then we are getting info on WotG. If its sept that only 2 month away... Youd think they wouldnt be so tight lipped with such a release so close. Unless maybe they are saving all teh big stuff for this fan fest coming up?
December, November if we're lucky, not September. We're 5 months away.
TGS should be sometime in early fall and another fanfest should come in November,
so we have at least 2 more opportunities for information.
BLU was revealed around the time of TGS, which was September '05.
COR was around Feb '06, I think. PUP was shown for the first time at fanfest, which was March, one month before TOA.
I don't think people mock it just because they've seen others mock it, or because of bad experiences, but rather just due to the typical alla poster mentality and the kinds of things they concern themselves with. BG posters have their own image that alla probably hates us for, but that's another matter. It's just a difference in target audiences and the issues that are more important to each and less important to the other.Originally Posted by Sagacious Sundi
I thought the interview was pretty good. I'm sure some people would have liked to have had more questions answered, but that will always be the case no matter what is asked/answered. Nice job Pikko.
I thought it was a good interview too. Even if some of the answers made me want to choke a dev...
Well, I'd bundle "Alla mentality" with bad experience.Originally Posted by Khamsin

Zammers: Happy Time Carebears! Everyone should get Ridills and Blood Weapon and Dalmaticas Oh my!
GF: Fads, fads about fads, nerdy injokes about fads, inbred bastard multiple generation injokes about injokes about fads that aren't even funny anymore except by their very existence, 1% content.
BG: Take GF, apply moderators who care/have a sense of humor, inject the other 99% of the content.
Just what I've noticed.
That's pretty much right, 80% of what naygor says on vent is basically just some refashioned GameFAQs fad >_>
I've got a few frequent Zam browsers in my LS, and they generally dislike BG because of the obvious: they think BGs elitist. They're less concerned with the mathmatical aspect of the game, and more concerned with finding a team oriented strategy that works well and sticking to it, avoiding thoughts such as "how can I improve MY parse on Seiryu" etc.
No matter, I propose another Alla raid.
I view BG as a place where the NA community has gathered to try and improve itself as a whole, as opposed to individual shells trying to keep their secrets from everyone.
If BG was completely closed and you had to know someone to get in, yeah, I could see elitist.
Just because the dumb fads get filtered into GF "If you don't have a Ridill you're gimp." or whatnot, doesn't make that what this board is about.
What cracks me up is how many people change their tone of Alla just because Pikko came here and stood up for her site.
I don't have anything against Alla or anyone else for that matter... but I'll be damned if I'm not going to be allowed to make fun of things that are ridiculously funny in my mind from time to time.
Geez Pikko. You think people on Alla don't talk trash about the other sites once in a while? Don't take it so personally. It's just the internet. It's not like I threatened to shoot your mother. I made fun of a question. I'd have done the same thing if anyone from any site had done it.
I'm a member of Alla too, and I tend to go there a lot for information that I can't find anywhere else... but the fact remains is that because of how much information the site has it attracts a lot of retarded childish people who know nothing about the game.
Again. That has nothing to do with you. Or your site. Just the stupid people who visit it. Myself included.
Have fun.
Personally I'd love to see all the current HNMs be revamped to be made a lot harder. The 3 kings stayed at the same level of difficulty as they did .... what..... 4 years ago? While players have been getting far better gear, merits to make their 'career' jobs even more powerful, and have been doing the same HNMs for years and know all there is to know about those HNMs. Tiamat is a great example. I can't even count to the number of times I've seen Tia spin around and not ONE fucking flail was ever used. 'Flail' moves should not be based on the monsters TP. They should be based on "If I do _______ you're fucked. period." KB is an even better example, strategy = run around in a circle. Ooooooo hard. All the HNMs need to be 'leveled up' imo.Originally Posted by BRP
The last time I felt challenged in this game was my first Tiamat fight. Ein isn't bad, but if you get the right boss it's a joke. Regardless of what SE says about AV, ppl can't kill it. Does anyone even try to kill AV anymore? SE has nerfed the fuck out of CoP because whiners couldn't get past the first few areas. I'm amazed that I haven't heard ppl complain about the difficulty of ToAU yet. Thank God SE made it 90% cutscenes.
The game does not need to be easier it needs to be challenging but not impossible. To get to this point you use statistics. For those that haven't studied statistics, what is typically used in this case is a standard deviation chart which into basically 3 sections (Top percentile, the mean, Lower percentile). The top percentile and 1/2 of the mean will be able to kill all the monsters in the game and the lower half won't until they learn and get the skill necessary to do so. Currently the only ppl that can't kill the 3 kings are..... well.... no one. The only challenge is claiming. Isn't it about time for an upgrade for these HNMs? All the HNMs?
Angel, I'm not sure if you were trying to add to the conversation, or change it. But he said that in reference to my bitching about exp mobs lol
IMO I don't expect another AV breakthrough till the new expansion comes out. Just seems like they wouldn't close off Al'Taieu comepletely till they have something else for us to concentrate on, since ToAU had a semi-weak storyline/bcnm based path (aside from the assault system & salvage).
I mean, CoP added some equipment, however it was dwarfed by the content released in ToAU. If we had Sea completely figured out, which is pretty much is minus AV, all we'd have at the moment is Assaults/Salvage + Dynamis(As Usual). Seems like SE would like to keep us concentrating on as much as possible (duh we're paying them $$$) So I don't expect any AV info till we get Wings, but who knows. lol
I have a very hard time believing them mentioning it's killable, simply because of all the endgame shells on all the servers who've popped it & messed around with different ideas, you think ONE would have figured something out by now, but no. Seems broken still. \(^_^)/
I know you were bitching about exp mobs but my point is who the fuck cares about exp mobs? Making mobs less TP burnable encourages manaburn PTs. Just increasing the level of the mobs will do nothing. The only possible outcome I see that would encourage a more diverse PT setup is making Magic Bursts an instant kill (or pretty damn close). The only reason I see ppl complain about exp mobs is that there's not enough of them. SE adds 6 or so new possible exp spots but one area is better than the others so everyone flocks there and complains about the lack of exp areas. I fall in this area as well but I'm not going to waste my fucking time complaining about exp mobs in an interview with SE (if given the chance) when I consider myself an endgame player. Endgame activities > everything leading up to them. Try looking at the bigger picture. Do you log on to exp or do you log on to kill HNMs?Originally Posted by Intense
So youre one of those end game players that people have been telling me about. I care about exp mobs. I hate EXPing, whatever makes it quicker and more painless is ok in my book!
