what BRP is saying is that an equally well-geared, equally well-working machine of a STANDARD party, should get the same 20k+ XP/hour that TPburn PTs get. some things just need to be fixed to accomadate (sp?) that, be it an exp+ for skillchains/MBs or mobs that yield high exp but are hard to melee down without large skillchains/MBs (and take extra dmg). Maybe a qutrub~ish type mob that has double the HP, takes 50% physical and magical dmg, and takes uh... twice as much dmg as the normal qutrub to SC dmg (and magic burst dmg), yielding uh... 500 base exp or something. the numbers are probably off, but you get the idea.

Put said mobs in an outside ToAU area for a nice respawn, put a lot of them there, and each standard PT can pull 1, and not pull another for anothing minute, minute30, or 2 minutes---and a lot of standard PTs could occupy the same area assuming the density was pretty high.

It doesnt hurt existing camps/people still have to have good gear to get good MBs/SCs to kill the things/lot of people have a new camp

    win/win/win/win
If only Kuno leveled a melee job that would work well in a meleeburn party... Some sort of, I don't know... Kinght-ish job. But instead of a white knight, like the opposite... Some kind of knight of darkness. If only we had one of those in this game.

But Kuno does deserve good XP on his BLM, and the best way to do that is for Square to embrace the specialty party trend and make areas specifically designed for Manaburn parties. Remember the happy-good-time-party-zone that used to happen in sea with manaburn parties? Good times. Let BLMs do their thing in peace while the heavy melees do their thing in peace.
i was using kuno as an example... im well-aware that he has drk leveled. i was using an exceptionally well-geared and skilled blm that we both know to get a point across.

that happy-good-time-party-zone was nerfed and those aerns dont summon over and over anymore, or did you forget that good time update?

I hate reading these interviews because they always leave out the most important desperately needed update in the mutha fukin game. It's been like ~~* years now and still no fucking dance motion to go with the /dance command. Plus there are still no new emotes. Gimme some goddamn new emotes!!! As for the non-TP parties discussion, I think the SE Dev were not just trying to address the attractiveness for meripo but also for lvl 10-70. Have you tried to lvl up a job recently? There's like 7 people seeking at any given lvl range and 5 of them are thieves or monks. Everyone is doing meripo setup for all the lower level parties too. I leveled up another job recently and I was never in a party that did SC's. You are SoL if you want to lvl up another job so you can farm better, do certain fights, or simply have fun doing a job that isn't cookie cutter.

And regarding SC's, I agree with Septimus' statement that SC were never good. SC's in some form or another have been a staple in the FF franchise about as much as summoning avatars. You would think they would make these two facets of the game more prominent. When I first played this game, I was really disappointed that MB's only did a minor dmg increase. I remember having my TP go up to 200-300% as I waited and waited for my SC partner to get to 100% all so we could do a MB for 300 dmg instead of 250. It was really frustrating back then and I'm glad you all finally came around to my line of thinking. (Yes, I'm taking credit for TP burns, bishes. Don't get me started because I might decide to take credit for chaining VT's instead of IT++'s from back when I was a lvl 18 mnk and no sub.)8)

*number of years edited out so that I don't remind myself how much of my life I wasted on this game and cry myself to sleep tonight.

To be perfectly honest, I'm a bit against this. I might be agreeing with Sept here, but I don't think exp should be handed out.
i'm not saying it's the best way but it's something that can bridge the gap. and i don't see how it's handing out XP.

you have to work and coordinate to overkill a mob, and if you plan specifically to overkill a mob you won't be able to chain very well. you drop a 1000 damage MB on to a mob that has 100 HP left (you have 900 damage overkill) and you get something like an extra 45 or 90 XP for it. in the end fighting in this manner will end up with a lot of "wasted" TP waiting for SC and a lot of "wasted" MP doing higher nukes when lower ones would've sufficed.

and yea other things have to be fixed too like SC damage shouldn't be resisted as often, and there should be ways to gear towards that not being resisted.

that's the point, they are more painful and more tedious, that's why people should be rewarded for the extra work.

yes, yes and yes, except right now the game rewards one of the three more than the other two, sometimes considerably so.

When it comes to manaburn, I think the only argument is that it has fewer camps. It has never been considerably worse than melee. And Balanced? Well, that's just the nature of the beast.

they should have never nerfed sea manaburning in the 1. place. there would be enough camps for it now, if elemental-mana-burning-sleep-aern-summoner-nerf wouldnt have occured.

EDIT: didnt the melees back then cry out why the BLMs got such a wonderfull merit spot location with endless mobs?

Re: FFXIclopedia interview with Development Team at E3

Yea, that's why I said that, at least, holds some water. Difference being TOA didn't exist back then. There were a fair number of meleeburn camps back then compared to mana (3 to 3, iirc) and sea was better by around 10k/h, if that much (I can't remember. ¬¬) Now a good TOA burn is the same as a good sea mana used to be. So if they had added TOA without adjusting sea, there'd be no problem; Mages would still have their sea camps, they'd get a new one on Troll Mountain, and we'd get the new burn camps. It would be practically even.

XP on BLM is more fun then on drk. If I wanted to turn off my brain and auto engage I would just go melee for every dynamis we did.

/dance is the WORST fucking thing SE can do.

Anyone who honestly, really wants dancing should die in a fire. Like those mobs of idiots in Whitegate aren't being stupid enough spamming my shout channel(and yes, I leave it on when running through there, but I find it useful 50% of the time in every other location)... I really need "/sh DANCE PARTEE!!! WOOOO! IS MA BURTHDAI!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 XD XD LOL! GALKA FUN STICK HOLE" spammed. Oh god, in Besieged..... oh god! MY MIND, IT BURNS!

    Bahaha I couldn't agree more.

I don't know if it's the same on your server, but on garbage island (aka asura), there are a bunch of people who use shout in whitegate as a regular conversation channel, really annoying. It used to be 1-3 people, but then more and more people kept adding in, to the point where they login they shout "Good morning asura!" and then start the conversation.
