BRD, then look for a COR to fill out the rest of the party (or vice-versa). If it's just between a COR and a BRD with equal relative amounts of merits/gear/skill, I'd probably go with BRD, mostly because COR has nothing that compares to Elegy. If it's between a COR and a 4th DD, I can almost guarantee that a good COR will be contributing more with their damage, Figher's Roll/Corsair's/Rogue's/Evoker's Roll, and Quick Draws.Situation: I am in BG, and I have both BRD and COR leveled. You need a support job in your merit PT or in your alliance, which would you prefer me to bring?
COR can Earth Shot elegy or Slow II. It takes more coordination in the party but it compares to elegy quite well (especially if there's a brd somewhere in the alliance already.)Originally Posted by Kylen
Most people prefer BRDs in merit parties yes, but as far as an event alliance- it would depend on what event is happening, the amount of other bards, the amount of other corsairs, how well geared your bard and corsair are in comparison to other bards and corsairs, your merits, so on and so forth.Originally Posted by Intense

on cerb specifically, i can't say since I roll with damage filtered. in general?Originally Posted by Lordender
smn, and ranger easy. and I wouldn't be surprised to hear there's other jobs that can do it too.
I agree, it depends on what you're doing.Originally Posted by Rocl

It just depends on how you use the jobs that makes them good or bad.
I never said I don't think BLU is a good/groundbreaking job, just that it might not seem as good to some people.Originally Posted by kuronosan

Sorry, I should have clarified - my last post was in reference to COR in merit parties, not endgame events.
For endgame events, it's pretty simple.
BRD > COR for tank or melee party buffs
COR > BRD for mage party buffs, unless the BRD has Gjallarhorn.
Earth Shot does nothing for Elegy, sadly ;;. It's been tested, and the only debuffs that Quick Draw works on are RDM/WHM/BLM spells. BLU spells and BRD songs are unaffacted.COR can Earth Shot elegy or Slow II. Granted I haven't read through the rest of this thread, but this need to die right here:

It's a legitimate argument for the developers to be moving away from the PS2 or to be developing separate compilations for the PC in order to enhance it in regards to new technology. It's not a legitimate argument to push in a direction so exclusive that you a.) risk alienating your playerbase further than what you originally can perceive consequentially, and b.) risk igniting an MS flamewar.
Well for the bold text... that kind a depends on the number rolled really. XI's are higher then bard buffs if i recall. And with the Merit cat 2's you can get XIs way easier now. Lucky numbers should be "almost" the same i think. I think one advantage of bard, especially in your party setup was that with 2 brds they were able to double stack the same song.Originally Posted by Leroy

Well to me both BRD and COR have their merits, since I've played both pretty dam well and for quite some time I can say that COR is more offensive than a BRD is in terms of buffing and fighting. While yes BRD has double marches, minuets and madrigal in terms of offensive Buffs CORs have BRDs beats
Crit+
Magic atk+
Atk+
Double atk+
ect ect.
The thing about CORs and BRDs is that when playing a COR you aren't just a "buffer" you're a DD and a buffer, you have to play COR offensively rather than passively, which BRDs are very known to do though their passive ability to enhance party mechanics.
Now that people ask if they would rather take a BRD or COR? I rather take both, double BRD parties are great but a good COR and a good BRD just do as good if not better in the same xp party/area. The only downfall, if that, is that COR's buff's aren't consistent, however played right a COR is an asset in a merit party and end game party member.

COR also can give buffs that usually are only on hard to get equipment that people tend to wear if they can. a BRD can't increase DA, can't increase CRIT, can't increase MAB, can't increase MACC, ect.
BLU has brought the ability to do many things at once and do them decently well, Nukes are lol at times but can be good, can mainheal very well, prob best from 30-40, can blood tank, and even /nin tank well, and be able to push out good DMG as a DD. Problem is 95% of the BLU community are inbread, not many Shokox or LE's out there >.>
PUP... No Commet.
I meant to say you cant make up secret options..![]()
I know
Why I used the good old Konami (I think... it's been a while lol) code to unlock secret options!
I would have prolly used something like MK2 or something since it really does open up secret options but I'm too lazy to look it up right now...

Well, with the same level of gear, BRD songs, and *my* two-hour, I can do between 8,000 and 10,000. What's your point?
