Oh wow, a WHOLE half hour. You didn't give it to management to hold onto in case the owner came back later?Originally Posted by Larsa

Um no, it was left right outside Taco Bell. We had just eaten, then just skated and hung out. There are some pretty cool banks near the front of it and this long ledge people sit on, it was left right near there. People usually eat, chill or just skate there. I told you I waited for at least a half hour, we had to go. Better it go to me making use of it then some goddamn bum or crack head.
Half an hour is probably not even long enough for the dude who lost it to realize it's missing, let alone possibly run back from wherever he got to when he did. If you were actually concerned with the welfare of the person who lost it, the right thing to do would have been to turn it in to the store management, because most people, having left an expensive item behind at/near a store, are going to come back looking for it and say "hey, did anybody turn in a ____?" Or, if you were intent on keeping it out of the "wrong" hands, to put up a sign, or...something. Anything besides waiting for half an hour and then leaving because you -had- to go, like it was then out of your hands.Originally Posted by Larsa

Are you one of those skaters who try to do tricks or can you actually do shit? Nothing pains me more than to see grown kids try to olly and futz around on an expensive deck whent hey absolutely suck.Originally Posted by Larsa
Seriously, I'd feel too guilty for taking it. Larsa, if you really didn't want a "bum" to get it, the responsible thing to do would have been to make up a few flyers and say you found a missing camera (don't say which kind), and provide a new email address (so they don't call your cell or fuck up your email) and see if someone contacts you. Ask them what kind it was, if it's theirs, set up a meeting outside the Taco Bell.Originally Posted by Shade

So that's the last time I post something I found. I could have, would have, should have. I really didn't put much thought into it, it was just like "Holy crap a Digital SLR camera". Why are you guys breaking my balls over this?

I would hate to hear what you think of rapists, pedophiles, and murderers. Whatever though, I wouldn't be surprised if my camera was gone if I had left it stupidly out in the open in front of a Taco Bell.

The forums have a lot of self-righteous people these days. If I found some cash on the ground or some other thing of worth, I'd just keep it. The only times I ever returned shit that I found was back in school. Outside of that, I play the "I seen it first" card.
You're such a dick for taking that camera. DOES NE 1 KNOW WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD FREE ANIME AND GAMES LOL
Hah, for every self-righteous person there's 100 assholes. :DOriginally Posted by Cheerios
From what I've seen shooting with a Nikon Coolpix, a Nikon d40x and a D70 (obviously I'm a fan of the nikon family) I'd personally save up and just get the best bang for your buck. Shooting a D70 as my primary camera and then using my friends d40 the other day, I will say this spending more up front on a d80 and being extremely happy with the quality. However, in my experience for someone especially just starting out in a dSLR world, the glass you use is much more important than the camera and for me personally, I find that I'm much happier with nikkor lenses then I have been with cannon.
Best I can tell you is goto a few camera places and hold them, see what feels comfortable in your hands feel what is comfortable your face and eyes. That is going to make the biggest difference, and then order from somewhere. I recommend B&H as far as ordering from an online place. Extremely reputable and extremely friendly in thier dealings that I've had.
Lastly, if you've found something you like, try it first before you buy it. See what other people are saying about it, dpreivew.com is beyond amazing as far as letting everyone know whats up. Also look at flikr they have pictures and stuff from pretty much every make and model camera as well.
Hope some of this helps
