Mnk burn @ lvl 40

heard of people doing a mnk burn pt at about lvl 40 in eldieme, could someone who has done it tell which entrance to do it in / about where to camp/roam?

im also gunna guess setup is either: mnkx3 brd whm rdm; or mnkx4 with either brd + rdm or whm alt for one of the mages?

any help would be great ^^ ty

It doesn't work. You dont really kill things fast enough and you need alot of healing.

hm, well if thats the case.. i wonder about Sacarium inside the maze... just running around in the maze killing everything? would probably be a little higher than 40 but ive always been curious about that

I see 2 things that can slow down your party in Sacrarium :

- Skeletons have to be VT to get respectable chains. These may be IT from what I remember, so even at lv50, your party will kill way slower than in KRT.

- Your mages *may* not have a big enough mp pool.

Both problems may slow you down, but overall, it could be lots of fun and a pretty good exp PT if people have the gear and know what they're doing.

Don't need to kill bones. Just search for any VT stuff that's been fought at that level. Maybe have a dualboxed WHM or RDM PL for backup cures. You won't reach over 8k/h at this level, but it is still better exp than most of the parties and more fun.

For example: I was doing lvl35-37 MNK PT with a backup healer in Crawlers Nest entrance with some friends when I was exping my WHM to 37. Was nice exp and we didn't even have a BRD.

Try and use Sylphet + Rukenshins guide for mnk parties at lower level. Essentially, you're definitly going to need out of party healers - they used a 75 whm + rdm combo. Looks like they did Crawlers Nest, lower level roaming in the lower 40's to great effect, pulling in 15k/hr.

Also, remember to bring your subligars.

I believe they continued the monk static all the way up towards 75, but I'm not sure if they kept this same strategy. I was actually looking forward to a Russta type outline for their xp party for monks + cor, but Ruke and Sylph slacked and never posted anything like that

The short of it is, yes it can work, all the way to 75 but it's requires so many luxuries that it's not a realistic option for most players.

When we did it, the static was: MNK MNK MNK COR BRD + one more (really can be almost anything but a healing job: either a second BRD or another DD of any kind).

All three MNKs had basically the best gear available to them for any given level and could /WAR. As COR, I initially kept up Fighters and Rogue's roll however as levels progressed and better gear is available I actually switched to Fighter's + Corsair's since kill speed wasn't really an issue at that point so we opted for more xp! Once you are able to xp in ToAU areas the xp/hour is huge.

Out party consisted of: RDM, WHM and BRD, all level 75. These were controlled by Lhexh, Ruke and myself. The RDM usually kept up haste on all of the melees, refresh on self and out party WHM, and did back up healing. The WHM main healed, and the BRD kept up ballad/back up healing. Essentially, what this does is take the entire support of a XP party and places it on the outside, leaving you with the space for more damage. Most of the 60s and 70s were spent with xp parties that did anywhere from ~20-28k/ hour (no I'm not lying - the 28k/hour was in the graveyard in Caedarva Mire.. @ 60 if I remember correctly)

It is the fastest xp I have ever experienced in this game outside of meripo.

To be honest though, the next jobs we level will be even more entertaining. I think it's going to end up being a PLD DRG DRK BRD static so we'll see just how far we can push it with a less than ideal job setup.

thanks so much for the help guys ^^ ive always been trying to find a way to xp outside of the norm and pull off some great xp/hr. so im gunna take what was said here and put it to use ;D

what ive gathered so far:

eldieme = not good as im over the mark.. plus the "not so worth it" responces.
CN = probably the right place atm, and if burning, roam in the big room by the secret room on crawlers? (until atleast 45)
Sacarium may be to much of a hassle, as only 1 ballad, mob cons, and lvl cap area

im gunna try and follow what you did, Sylphet (and Ruke's too... update your LJ with pretties!), if you dont mind ;D.

Syl basically covered it lol..

Just to touch on a few specifics, Eldieme did pretty well but it died significantly around 39/40. Mobs start to con EM and it's a lot more difficult to keep the exp high, but at it's best we were still getting a good 10-15k/h. This was actually one of the major problems with this PT, we'd set up at a camp and after 1-2 hours the ITs would turn into EMs. Even chaining EMs and higher non-stop the exp/h was still high, but once mobs hit DC the camp was basically done... So we would have to keep that in mind when choosing camps, starting off with VT mobs any time before 60 would be a short PT before having to change camps.

Also, we actually didn't have a BRD in the PL out PT until higher levels (60+ was when we first did it, and we started doing it all the time around 65). At 65 keeping up with MP 100% without taking any breaks was a little more difficult because of the 500-900 damage breath attacks that the crawlers would love to spam, so the ballads helped solve that.

Last I think as far as our camps go, we went from Eldieme Necropolis (37 to 40) > Crawler's Nest (40 to 49) > Quicksand Caves (49 > 51) > Kuftal Tunnel (51 > 57) > The Boyahda Tree? (57-59) > Caedire Mire Graveyard (59-63) > Mount Zhaylom? (63-70) > forgot the rest, some combination of Mire/Thickets/Colibri. Most of those are rough estimations based on memory but I think they're accurate.

But yeah, the exp/hour was insane... It was a lot of fun too!
