GMs are hardly connected to SE and do not have any control or understanding of AV. A better example would have been Hope Staff on PUP or Amood.

    Re: Absolute Virtue Theory

Well, I'd like to think they're trained by SE, but I suppose you're right since they generally don't seem to know much about the game.

Would Rdm being able to equip H2H weapons with no skill and having natural Divine skill with no natural spells count?

Actually, PUP having Hope Staff can be explained. If the Jailer Weapons are indeed used to lock AV someway, then every job should be entitled to one so that they can be useful in said process. Perhaps they gave PUP Hope Staff despite their lack of natural staff skill because they felt that giving them Faith Baghnags would deviate from their design and emphasis on the automaton by overpowering the Master's hand to hand damage.

I believe RDM originally had flash, and when they removed it the Divine was a leftover remnant, either way it's not totally useless, because you can sub WHM and cast Banish on bones for the Special Defense down effect.

As far as the H2H thing goes, PLD can equip some hand to hand weapons too for seemingly no reason. I never really got that either.

Neither COR nor BLU have Jailer weapons. And Absolute Virtue was "complete"(read: unbeatable) long before PUP was released. PUP have at least D Club skill, if they wanted to make them mage-y, why not Prudence Rod?

    Re: Absolute Virtue Theory

I know BLU & COR don't get anything, but what I meant is, giving PUP hope staff, if AV is lockable using jailer weapons somehow, gives PUP another use during the AV fight over the two new jobs, making the hope staff not useless. Obviously other jobs could use hope staff before PUP could, so it's nothing new, just an added versitility for PUP.

Perhaps we should go to all of the sites that are likely to get interviews in the near future and give them specific, well worded questions to ask about AV.

    Re: Absolute Virtue Theory

Ok probably a stupid idea just throwing it out there...

Anyone ever thought maybe his 2hrs are triggered by us?

I mean look at the Mamool Boss. His deadliest ability is triggered/spammed by something we can control.

Maybe doing anything WS or Spell-wise outside of a proper skillchain>>MB on the right element of day triggers 2hrs?

We'll try this next time... probably really dumb but at the least we'll get a laugh out of it.

I think FFXIclopedia had some good questions towards that, but SE kept dickin' around the actual topic and didn't really give a response

Said something about the regen bullshit again, and nothing about locking his 2hrs...you'd think after so many months they'd do something to please the player base but...meh.

I'm really not keeping my hopes up <_< luckily if they do that DEv-team killing AV~ness that they mentioned on clopedia's interview, we'll know something.

    Re: Absolute Virtue Theory

Assuming SE isn't lying and AV is defeatable, they're probably just as dumbfounded as we are. I wonder if any of the people constantly saying "omg se is retarded" will actually apologise if the method for locking AV turns out to be fairly simple; probably not.

    Re: Absolute Virtue Theory

Im just gonna throw this out there, but if you kill the wyverns he summons, does he HAVE to use call wyvern as his 2hour if 1 is dead? like could you have some RDMs kite 2, and have a Pt of BLMs kill 1. Then he would be forced to resummon wyverns instead of using another 2hour. I have no idea if this strat has been used, or if AV is forced to use Call wyvern, I just thought of it and figured Id post for the hell of it. lol

    Re: Absolute Virtue Theory

He is never forced to use Call Wyvern, even if all three are dead, but he will prefer to use it, and typically does use it within 2-3 2Hs. Also, if you have even one wynav alive, I'm pretty sure he will still have access to Mijin Gakure, Astral Flow and Benediction.

    Re: Absolute Virtue Theory

The problem with an experienced player answering questions in a thread like this is that people will not listen, ask the same questions over and over, and propose the most stupid ideas ever. I really hate to say it, but unless you have dealt with AV, I don't think you can really contribute to anything regarding a strategy. 95% of questions asked here can be answered by just fighting for 5 minutes, as well as the theories. A good example of this is asking if enfeebles work. Do you askers of this question think that the community is really that stupid? If the wynavs had little hate link and were grav-able, do you think maybe that would be explored? We are at a point in compilation, if you have a brain and have been paying attention to AV threads from the past 2 years, that there are few things that can be realistically tried, such as killing random ass mobs around it.

If I hear one more mention of virtue weapons, I will personally come to your house and beat you with one of them.
Also, assuming SE is not retarded is....retarded...

And of course, this is all assuming AV is not the current Steam cleaner

What was the ideas back then? Equipping Byakko's Haidates, Seiryu Swords and trading Magic Pot Shards to a ??? while pressing a Pincerstone?

    =/

I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't suggesting that enfeebles or hate-link with wynavs was some unanswered question that could be the key. I know its been tested. I've read all the old AV threads and I've done my part in throwing thousands of EXP doing tests myself (2 fights pre-patch, 1 post-patch).

You mention a compilation, but where is it? That was my whole point. That even basic info like enfeebleability (new word!) should be cataloged somewhere besides pages 17, 26, and 48 of a 2-year old thread. I'm tired of hearing 3rd or 4th-hand information passed off as fact.

Maybe it's like zelda and you have to kill them in a certain order. Or throw a boomerang at em in a certain order. No this is not a serious post but i thought it would be funny
