YES! What I was about to post. These conversations lead me to believe that people dont care if a job is functional or not, just as long as they get their nostalgic "OMG X-JOB WAS MY FAVORITE FROM FFT!!" bullshit. SE has never implemented a job that is equal to another ever. Bard, Corsair, and Red mage are far from equal. Like septimus said it would essentially replace depending on the potency and how easy it is for them to land it. So no it is not likely it will be equal to another job.
Red mage merits besides Slow 2 and paralyze 2 are a waste period. Dia 3 and Bio 3 are laughable, and Phalanx has little impact over many fights. And can be done by other jobs on top of that.

You guys seem to think Time Mage would have to be enfeebling only! Which I strongly disagree with. I don't agree with the spell lists floating around either, I would much rather like them more focused on enhancing and mile debuffing (ie. the B in enfeebling and not A).
However unique to Time Mage only type spells I would think would be:
Break (equivalent of stop)
Regain
Demi (not in normal FF fashion but more of a Dark based nuke)
Comet
Haste II
an interesting spell Idea I saw was a Tractor like spell for living toons, maybe give it a chance of failure or something but only cause it was interesting did I like the idea >.>
And yes I know RDM doesn't get Sleepga I was just making a point about bitching that they do/don't get a spell they focus in.
But it has a MAJOR impact in a couple fights, including Salvage, which is practically the new pinncale of end-game. Other situations would be the many assaults that have tons of weaker monsters hitting you and any time that's mimiced outside of assault. It's nice to have, at the very least.Phalanx has little impact over many fights.
Anyway, now, there are two types of "weak".
1. Weak because it sucks. Example: Gavial Armor.
2. Weak because the game is unbalanced and some systems/things are failing to complete their objective. Example: Konieg Armor.
Let's hope one day SE adds/fixes 2-hand weapons, Skillchains, blood tanking(and then add some situations where you'd have to blood tank, like chigoe HNM gogo), and the various jobs mentioned above. None of it would require nerfing of anything, at worst maybe design that worked against some builds(like Seigen) to prevent overpowering.
This is what I'm hoping for, more so than new jobs. If they fix some mechanics, there would be less (chance for) obsoleting.
I would really like to see Comet (I to III?) being a Light based damage spell (more powerful than Banish) and Demi being a dark spell (I-III?). It could give TIMs some backup nuking power along with their other spells.
Sorta like "Call of the Hero" from EQOA, except the magician was able to summon one person from any where in the world to him. It was a one hour recast spell I think. It's been a long time.Originally Posted by Kaslo
From regular EQ you could call of hero from anywhere in zone as long as you were grouped together. Then again zones were much larger and it made it easy to catch up to a raid (example would be a boss at the north side of huxzoi basement, if you couldnt zone in through the west door)
