    Well, it could also be that, aside from Diaga, RDM were not meant to have AoE ability.

    Well, it could also be that, aside from Diaga, RDM were not meant to have AoE ability.
    Phalanx II was originally AoE Phalanx in the dat files. (Cost 99 MP.) But we see how that was changed. >_>

    sleepga is crowd control. something that (ignoring subjobs for a moment) rdm is notoriously -bad- at. like rocl, this is the first thread I've seen referencing a better haste. (usually it's higher tier time-based enfeebles.)

    again, just because different roles overlap skills doesn't make something a focus of the job. (would you say that a paladin's focus is divine spell-nuking because they get Holy? didn't think so.)

    I think Hastega/Slowga/Comet/Meteor are usually mentioned in time mage ideas, but then again I used to skim most time mage posts because I used to not like the idea of the job. Oddly, a lot of people seem to forget about Bind and Gravity, which tend to not even be mentioned in time mage posts (I think).

    Actually, there are several more ga spells in the dat files assigned to Red Mage- Slowga, Paralyga, Silencga, and Blindna off of the top of my head. (They are also assigned to WHM or BLM depending on the type of spell.)

    Yes, because obviously since every other spell I wrote on that list was a "ga", obviously I didn't mistype "blindga".

    There's also Graviga, Bindga, Dispelga, Breakga (and of course Break), and Gravity II. Not sure if Break(ga) is listed for any jobs, but it's black magic so BLM/RDM if anything.

    Virus only stops you from recovering HP/MP while resting, so I don't think you really want that one, lol. Is there a plague spell in the dats as well? That one would make a lot more sense to give to players. Well blu already has it, but lowing sucks.

    Virus was in the dats before CoP, so chances are it is just the crappy no recovery from resting kind. The only way I can see it being useful is if it is very long-lasting (10-15 minutes) and you can use it on NM/HNM in case you wipe to keep them from recovering HP. Even then it would still be lame and you would never be able to land it on anything that mattered.

    Plague would be a much better spell, and that's why we would never get it.

    Wait, is it virus and plague are both "diseases", or disease and plague are both viruses?
    Also, is Curse enfeebling or dark? Or, at least, would RDM get it?

    I also just found out there's Invisiblra/Sneakra/Deodorizra in the .dats. Same goes for Confuse (I knew it was planned as an effect, not as a spell...probably would've been enemy-only anyway.)

    I just realized I was wrong in my previous post, disease is the status effect that prevents you from resting back HP/MP. However viruna removes both, so you could say they are both 'virus status effects'.

    And apparently virus is casted by a drk funguar nm in game, according to wiki anyway, and it inflicts plague:
