hey seeing other's TP, viewing range for songs, and being able to have unlimited macro lines is cheating really, since it gives you a huge advantage over PS2 and 360 players. ;p
I wonder what they will add in terms of new jobs next... they mentioned support job possibly...
What could it be that a rdm, whm, smn,blu etc etc can't do already as support O_o? Maybe a whole new set of abilities/spells as backup?
Dear Elmer,
Have my babies.
XXX, OOO,
Septimus.
New type of support? Simple.
Chemist.
I'd really like to see Chemist with Mix, that has some potential. Hell, they already have a bunch of meds in Conflict and Beseiged that could be a Chemist formula's end result.
Really I could see Chemist/Medic being a new healing class. Using tools to heal people.Originally Posted by LD

You almost always speak awesome words, good sir. If Chemist drops, I'd 100% lvl it. It's toally feasible to the game as well. Mix, and a command to use items on party members would be win. All this for 0 MP needed.Originally Posted by LD
Also @ Missnasty, Chemists in previous games had a trait that doubled the effects of all items used.
I haven't checked recently, but even if they did base it on actual meds (which I kinda doubt), the pot market has been slowly dying, at least on my server. Assaults literally throw hi-pots at us, maybe this was SE's way of preparing the market for it?
Chemist would certainly fill a role in such a way that is not covered by other jobs so far. However, they'd need stackable meds, first and foremost.
I'd forsee Mix being a Job Ability with a timer, and LD's suggestion of Beseiged/Conflict-type meds makes sense. Many of them were actually Mix results in previous FFs, such as Giant's Drink. Unfortunately, if they want Chemist to be able to use most of those kinds of meds you see in Beseiged and Conflict, Mix would likely be on a decently long timer, or the effect durations would be nerfed. Unless Mix ended up being the 2-hour, and it basically just gave the Chemist a choice between restoring someone's 2hour, doubling their HP, granting someone Invincible, Regain, refilling HP/MP, etc.
Day to day operation, I'd expect, would be centered around lobbing cheap stackable meds at people with the Medicine trait to make Hi-Pots heal 2-3 times as much as normal. Now, the question is, could they lob cheap stackable ethers at people? Poison/Silence/Blinding/Paralysis powders at mobs? Could they sneak and invis people by lobbing cheap stackable (to 99) silent oils and prism powders at them?
I'd be surprised if Chemist was added and any of the items they'd use were ones that currently exist. This hasn't been the case for any other consumables job (not counting ammo), but then again there haven't been any jobs that would use items as extensively as a Chemist theoretically would. Still, if they let Chemists make use of hi-potions and such they'd have to make them stackable somehow or the job loses a lot of functionality.Originally Posted by LD
Chemist would need to be able to debuff and use some type of ether to be worth a shit, as well as raise. If they could only heal numerically to a single target and cure status effects, how useful would that be? Not very.. especially in exp or merits where nobody gets hit. Even if it can use ethers, phoenix downs, para/poison/sleep/etc potions, it needs something comparable to haste in power. Unless you wanted to turn chemist into a healer DD with a gun or something like it was in FFT.
It would be interesting as a subjob either way thou.
Yeah, the sheer volume of Hi-Pots that they give us is amazing. I remember the Hi-Potion market effectively being killed off about 2-3 days after LC and C ranks were added. If Chemist is added I forsee Elixirs being made again, lol. Alchemists would have something to cheer for again outside of Cursed gear as well ._.Originally Posted by LD
"Ingredients" are in play for that to happen, if you really think about it. For example one would mix a Poison Pot with something to use on a mob as a Poison attack, etc. In the same way, you'd be able to mix the same Poison Pot with something else to make a "Poisona" type of item to cure it on your members. The mixed items can all be created "EX" with a separate bag like in Beseiged.Originally Posted by fantasticdan
That's my general idea on how it would work-- when I think about Chemist, I see Blue Mage. I never thought it possible for BLU to be introuduced, but they did it. I'ma stay hopefulon Chemist, heh.
