Does ethereal convert magical damage to MP as well?

Earring description implies it does, similar to the description on a defending ring. But then again, I don't have one and can't log in right now to ask a friend.

The damage that is converted is not "lost." You still take the damage in addition to gaining the MP. So it's really nothing like defending ring.

I thought it was pretty obvious he was referring to the description "damage taken" was similar to the description on D.Ring vs say "physical damage taken", not that it would reduce the damage like D.Ring.

i'm told it also works on things like devotion and martyr returning a VERY small chunk of MP on each, but i've not tried it. try it and find out for sure if you like though.

not a clue. don't own an ethereal, drk is at 11, can't say. find an LS buddy who can test it and see how it does. don't see when it would be really worth it though. figure you have 1000 hp and you use guillotine. 400*.05=20 mp back. buys you a drain to put you back up some HP, but still, not shocking. but then i'm not a drk, so what do i know i guess.

I just checked with Spirit Link and it didn't give me any MP.

NIN/DRK using H2H w/ Ethereal on a Bee outside Jeuno. Popped Souleater 1142 -> ~320 HP, MP stayed at 108 the whole time. Killed a goblin too. So, I'm pretty comfortable saying it doesn't get you MP back from damage Souleater does to you.
