Looks no better than PS2 versions, Surely they would of made more money just bringing it out on ps2 but it's early days yet maybe its so big it needs blu-ray or something.
Time to buy a PS3
I love this series, but theres no way in hell id buy a PS3 to play it, I may buy the game (always comes with nice extras from NISA, if they can even port PS3 games yet, or will), and just wait to buy the PS3 years down the road.
yay another game to play :D
been waiting for another good strategy rpg lately.
Niiiice... and Seph, by the time this is out in the US there would be enough games out to warrant a PS3 purchase... IMO at least.
I know lots of people are like, "omg it's on ps3 this sucks" and then people complain about PS3 sucking because it has no good games on it, then when it gets a good game or a game they want they fucking complain even more.
sigh.
It's kinda insulting to buy a ps2 looking game on a console that cost 600$ and is popularized for its next-gen graphic. I personally can't justify PS3 cost atm when most game are ports, remake, or ps2 games. Not saying the situation wont change in the next 2 years, because I'm sure there will be more beside MGS and FFXIII, but I doubt I would buy a ps3 for a game like this.Originally Posted by Elcura
But the thing is, you aren't buying a PS2 game. So what if it looks like a PS2 game? Is everyone who buys a PS3 graphic junkies? The sprites look sharper and more detailed than before, backgrounds are shaping up to look better there are WAY more animations (just from one screen you can tell there are a lot) and I bet the sprite animations themselves are gonna be amazing. Plus with the amount of data you can put on a blu-ray I can't imagine how much content there is gonna be (D1 and D2 could easily keep you playing for 200+ hours). And the attack animations and spells as well as everything else are going to be amazing.Originally Posted by Kaylia
If you know NIS and Disgaea games then you should know what to expect, why would you want them to buff up the graphics so much that the game loses it's charm? Sure, it may not be a game that moves PS3, but it's another reason to get one.
Pretty sure it could have better graphic without losing its charmSpecial moves were flashy, but I dont remember them being visually impressing from a graphic standpoint. I'm not saying it's a problem it come out on ps3 only, but game should at least match a certain expectation when you look at the price tag associated with the console. It's a little too early to judge based on two tiny screenshots, but it doesnt seem that much better than before. I complain the same way about nintendo's "mii" games and the like. If it was a new studio, I would let it slip, but Disgaia made a fuckton of money already, so there is no reason to reward the fan like this
Anyway, I don't think it's about being a graphic junkies, I just don't want to pay a 600$ for a console that run game that could be run by another 99$ console. I feel like I'm getting ripped off somewhere.
I think it would, as a huge Disgaea player and NIS fan (easily put 500+ hours into D2 and over 200 on D1) I'm used to the sprites and how they look. The thing about sprites is that it isn't so much about how they look, the charm and power comes from the animations, there isn't enough about this game revealed to say the graphics are shitty and not up to par (likewise there isn't enough to suggest it isn't just that) but I have faith that NIS will pull out all the stocks to get this game as awesome as the last 2.Originally Posted by Kaylia
And the attacks in D1/2 were impressive, moreso in Makai Kingdom, it wasn't really about the graphics though, it was the concept and scale that was more impressive (flaming spears setting the whole level on fire goooo).
You don't have to buy a PS3 just for this, but it is another reason to get one and enjoy if you eventually do...
Yeah, that's basically what I said about the attack. They were pretty because of the concept art more than graphic/visual effect. When I say graphic could be better, I'm not talking about the sprite either, I understand it's an important aspect of the series that cant be altered too much. However, I'm certain environement could be more impressing, they could add a ton of anime sequence instead of normal dialogue and stuff like this.
I didnt really have the impression they put more time and money in Disgaia 1 than they did with Disgaia 2, which is something I expect usually when the first game was succesful.
Isn't ps3 down to $500 now? And like someone said, by the time disgaea 3 hits we'll have shirokishi and other stuff to make it worth getting (Guilty Gear X3 maybe? I'm tired of halfassed remakes of XX that don't get played in tournaments and mostly don't even get imported).
Yes and no, the 60gig model is, but it will be discontinued soon after.
By the time this comes out, FFXIII, MGS4, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, and Killzone 2 might also be out too. All that seems worth buying a PS3 to me. And besides, it's DISGAEA. lol The last two games weren't enough proof that Nippon Ichi knows how to make you spend 500 hours on a strategy RPG? AND enjoy it? haha.
(Although I was kinda miffed that the main "uber tactic" in Disgaea 2 was just raising up Space knights.)
RE5 is ps3, umbrella chronicles is for wii
whoops! Oh, and RE5 is Xbox360 also.
yea, i know, was just making sure you realized ps3 doesnt get umbrella :/
shush all, screw disgaea 3 meanwhile, until we finish Soul Cradle(soul nomad USname) it seems is going to rock and its for ps2,
I haven't even played the first 2 heh... guess i'll wait for the PSP version of the 1st.
