<3 I may not have a PS3 at that time, but ill surely buy the game :Q
I do that all the time. I don't have a 360 yet, but I buy 360 games all the time and just use my flatmates console.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

I read an interview on RPGamer.com about how they decided not to give the graphics a huge upgrade for the PS3 and instead focus on content. I think the developer said you could literally get over 500 hours of gameplay in on this new version. Sounds cool to me, can't wait to pick it up when it comes out.
idk, it looks a lot of the same-old-same-old, and the tower attacks and new geo blocks look confusing as fuck. (well ok, the blocks not as much, but still)
If I ever get a PS3, which is doubtful at this point, I might consider it. They should have just sticked to PS2![]()
The whole reason they made it on the PS3 was to get used to it. Besides, whatever looks confusing usually isn't when it comes to Disgaea. If it requires you to think then what is there to complain about considering Disgaea is an SRPG.Originally Posted by Julian
Why limit this to the PS2 when the PS3 version will have so much more? Also what's wrong with the formula? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I believe Suikoden did that and when they returned to the same-old same-old it was the best game they've done in a while.
Because building up super powerful items to level 100 and getting maxed weapons over and over is really fun.![]()
The thing about your example is, Disgaea is all about gameplay. Suikoden, on the other hand, is all about story. The gameplay could stay exactly the same, but it would still offer a new and refreshing story. But with Disgaea, the story is a very minor part of the game, and all that it has left to offer is the gameplay. If the gameplay is exactly the same, what really differs it between 1, 2, and 3? I'm basing my opinion on that last video so I could be wrong, but a lot of it really just looks too similar to warrant buying not just a brand new game, but also an expensive console when I could get nearly the same effect by just replaying Disgaea 1. (Or, just getting the came for a console I already own, hence the PS2 comment. Persona 4 is doing this, and since Disgaea 3 is keeping their regular graphics, they could easily have fit it into the PS2. For comparison's sake, Disgaea 1 is about 500MB rar'd, Disgaea 2 is 1gig rar'd, unrar'd it wouldn't even be 1/3 of what a PS2 dvd can hold)
I'd love to be proved wrong, but with the 360 getting so many RPGs, I don't see myself getting a PS3 anytime soon. =/
I never said anything about that, but yes...people do find that fun.Originally Posted by Julian
Disgaea's story does a lot for the characters and why people like them. Disgaea's stories are one of the reasons why I buy the games, because they're refreshing (considering what you normally get with an RPG) and actually funny. Just because you don't pay attention to the story or consider it minor doesn't mean everyone else does. Sure, gameplay is the reason why people still play Disgaea after all is said and done, the challenge of the fights and getting strong enough to beat the bosses etc, but those usually tie in to some element of story that makes it worth doing.Originally Posted by Julian
I don't agree that Disgaea only has gameplay. You're writing off an important part of the game and basically just shelling it to its core. Besides that, things do change between the games, the difference in gameplay between D1 and 2 is visible, and between 1 and 3 even more so.
Just because you aren't willing to buy a PS3 doesn't mean they should have to downgrade. It also doesn't mean that you're warranted on attacking the game with issues that aren't even important. If you wanna play D1 and fool yourself into thinking nothing has changed and you're getting the same experience, go ahead. But you won't be.
lol @ saying Disgaea has a bad story. I played through D1 three times, and D2 twice because of how great the stories were. Usually I dont both replaying games because their gameplays suck, but Disgaea has great gameplay that makes it easy to replay the game.
I didn't see anyone saying Disgaea has a bad story, only that it's a very small part of the game, which it is. If you do any post-game at all, it ends up being like 65% item world, 15% story, 15% grinding levels, 5% doing extra levelsOriginally Posted by SephirothYuyX
Disgaea preorders are up. http://www.rosenqueen.com/index.asp?...TS&Category=24
I got the 90$ version :3 One day ill get a PS3, lol.
I can understand buying a game you don't have the system for, I mean... even without owning a PS3 he could probably play the game with a friend, or just hold on to it till he gets one.
But... preordering a $90 copy of it isn't something I would do!
I probably wouldn't preorder at all, but it doesn't really matter what I would do does it?
True if you could play it on some one else's system but, by the time you buy one the game might be cheeper/used
Well, he bought the $90 one, so I'm assuming price doesn't mean jack shit to him...
Yeah, price doesnt really matter to me too much, 90$ isnt that bad; I am an RPG whore who loves boxset like goodies, and ill get a PS3 one day to play it ;o
The deal seems quite good, I might even get it. But it sucks that there's a random element to it. I'd much rather have the artbook or OST than the flag.
I'll end up getting it cause I have liked all the other disgaea games... but I'm really dissapointed they haven't decided to upgrade the look of the game at all. I'm not saying sprite design, ect... won't be better, but there is a LOT they can do w/ the game and making a PS2/DS/PSP game for the 360 is just an attempt to milk money
You mean PS3 right? I don't think how making it for the PS3 is an attempt to milk money when less people have a PS3 than a PS2. Making this game on the PS3 was so they could get used to it and make the pretty game with pretty sprites everyone seems to want. The only reason they called this game Disgaea was so that it would be a safe thing to develop.
